Abstract
An introduction to the major architectural traditions of the Ancient Near East. Explores how monuments can be used to study the history and culture of the ancient world. Focuses on Levantine architectural traditions from the late Chalcolithic to the Late Bronze Age, the development of urban and architectural traditions in their socio-cultural and economical context. Examining key sites and key monuments, the use of building materials and innovative architectural technologies, and the development and circulation of construction materials and techniques, as well as architectural knowledge.
