Spatial impacts of immigration: evidence from the Spanish housing market
2010
Abstract Area-based analysis of the impacts of immigration have mainly been focused on effects on the labour outcomes of receiving regions. Studies on the effects of immigration on prices are scarce and mainly for the US (Sai z (2007), Ottaviano and Peri (2006)). A demand shock on housing due to a large immigration inflow can result in an increase on rents and prices. The size of the impact depends on the response of supply and on natives mobility.
