First record of the jumping spider tribe Huriini Simon (Salticidae: Salticinae) from Colombia (original) (raw)

Three new jumping spider species and new records of the genus Hypaeus Simon (Araneae: Salticidae: Amycini) from Colombia

Three new jumping spiders of the genus Hypaeus Simon, 1900 are described and illustrated from Colombia, two of which are sympatric: H. arhuaco sp. nov. and H. proszynskii sp. nov., from Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Magdalena department. The third species, H. varzea sp. nov., is described from a várzea forest in the Amazonas department. The new species are diagnosed based on sexual characters, such as the retrolateral tibial apophysis, retroventral tibial apophysis and the embolus (male palp), and length and disposition of the copulatory ducts and digitiform glands (epigyne).

A new jumping spider species of the genus Maeota (Araneae: Salticidae: Euophryini), with new faunistic data of the tribe from Colombia

A new species of jumping spider of the genus Maeota (Salticidae), M. galeanoae sp. nov., is described and illustrated from the Caribbean state of Magdalena, Colombia. Additionally, the genus Anasaitis is recorded for the first time from Colombia, with the species A. canalis, from the department of Chocó. Moreover, new records are presented for Maeota serrapophysis from the departments of Magdalena, Quindío and Valle del Cauca, Colombia, with individuals from the southern region presenting a slightly different pattern of coloration in which the prosoma, abdomen and legs have a reticulated brown and gray pattern. New faunistic data from Colombia are also presented for the species M. betancuri and Ilargus galianoae. Finally, a distribution map is presented, including new and previously published records for the taxa treated here.

First record of the jumping spider Eustiromastix falcatus (Araneae: Salticidae) in Brazil

Eustiromastix falcatus Galiano 1981, described with 7 males from Port of Spain (Trinidad, West Indies) and subsequently reported from French Guiana (National Natural Reserve La Trinité) by Courtial et al. (2014), is here reported for the first time from Brazil. This paper is based on one male deposited in the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MPEG), that was collected from the Amazonian Region of northern Brazil.

Jumping spiders of the genus Scopocira Simon, 1900 (Araneae: Salticidae: Amycoida) from Colombia, with the description of a new species

Species of Scopocira (Araneae: Salticidae) can be recognized by the presence of one apophysis on the prolateral face of the male chelicerae and embolus arising from the retrolateral side of the tegulum in the male palps. While comparing material from Colombia to the illustrations of the revision (Costa & Ruiz 2014), it was possible to identify a new species and the undescribed female of one species described in that paper. The new species is described here, based on specimens collected in the Amazonian department of Vaupés, Colombia. Also, the female of S. crotalica Costa & Ruiz, 2014 is described and illustrated for the first time, based on material from the Amazonian state of Guainía, Colombia. Additionally, S. dentichelis Simon, 1900 and S. tenella Simon, 1900 are also newly recorded from this country.
