Αντικείμενο της παρούσας μελέτης αποτελούν τα νεκροταφεία που έχουν αποκαλυφθεί και ερευνηθεί συστηματικά ή αποσπασματικά στον γεωγραφικό χώρο της σημερινής Μακεδονίας, καθώς και τα ταφικά έθιμα, από την Εποχή Σιδήρου έως τη Μέση Ελληνιστική Περίοδο. Αν και βρίσκονται εκτός οικισμών, τα νεκροταφεία αποτελούν κομμάτι του οικισμού και ο εντοπισμός τους δηλώνει και την ύπαρξη παρακείμενης πόλης ή εγκατάστασης. Ο αριθμός των αποκαλυφθέντων νεκροταφείων ασφαλώς δηλώνει ανάλογο αριθμό οικισμών και μαρτυρεί τη διάρκεια της ανθρώπινης δραστηριότητας στο σύνολο της έκτασης της σημερινής Μακεδονίας, κατά την περίοδο που εξετάζεται εδώ. Συνολικά παρουσιάζονται 350 νεκροταφεία από 210 θέσεις. Στα επιμέρους κεφάλαια παρουσιάζονται τα χαρακτηριστικά των νεκροπόλεων κάθε περιοχής και κάθε χρονικής περιόδου. Μέσα από τη συνολική παρουσίαση των επιμέρους νεκροταφείων γίνεται δυνατό να διαπιστωθούν φαινόμενα, τα οποία δεν διακρίνονται στη μεμονωμένη εξέταση του καθενός από αυτά. Έτσι, επισημαίνεται μία σειρά σημαντικών χαρακτηριστικών ή και προβλημάτων ανά εποχή.

his thesis is concerned the social construction and culture of special social pockets that clustered on the urban fringe around activities of prostitution and leisure in the first half of the 20th century. This area of study is explored from the perspective of interpretive sociology and cultural anthropology based on the ethnographic example of the Lakkos, a space of differentiated social organization associated with a value system and codes of behaviour that deviate from the conventional norms of respectable society. The study explores scattered traces of urban popular culture and presents a local version of the rebetiko in a city for which are no reports of the existence of such subcultural formations. The social world of Lakkos is constituted in a particular socio-historical context, in a time when Heraklion is changing, its social organisation is transforming and the patterns of cultural behaviour and social relations are changing. The factual material on which the interpretive schemes of the study are structured comes from field research in Heraklion, Crete from March 1993 to June 1995 and consists of biographies (life stories of elderly people who were involved in the activities of the pit in the past), ethnographic observations, historiographic material, unedited texts from newspapers and magazines of the time and information from archival sources. The analysis focuses on biographical discourse and the way subjects negotiate their social conditions of existence. The biographical flashbacks, memories of subjects imbued with present purposes, are analyzed as narrative practises that constitute a social poetics for the world of Lakkos. Within the historiographical axis, unedited written sources are analyzed, the attitudes of the state apparatus and scholarly judgements on the idiosyncratic social pocket are investigated and an attempt is made to reconstruct the temporal transformation of the city in a period of rapid changes (the constructions Autonomous Crete State, the arrival of Asia Minor refuges, etc.). Περίληψη στα Ελληνικά Η διατριβή αυτή αφορά την κοινωνική συγκρότηση και το πολιτισμικό περιεχόμενο ιδιαίτερων κοινωνικών νησίδων που συστήνονται στις παρυφές της πόλης γύρω από δραστηριότητες αγοραίου έρωτα και πρακτικών ελεύθερου χρόνου στο πρώτο μισό του 20ου αιώνα. Αυτό το πεδίο μελέτης, διερευνάται από την σκοπιά της ερμηνευτικής κοινωνιολογίας και της πολιτισμικής ανθρωπολογίας με βάση το εθνογραφικό παράδειγμα του Λάκκου, ενός χώρου διαφορικής κοινωνικής οργάνωσης συνδεδεμένου με ένα αξιακό σύστημα και κώδικες συμπεριφοράς που παρεκκλίνουν από του συμβατικούς κανόνες της ευυπόληπτης κοινωνίας. Η μελέτη καταγράφει διάσπαρτα ίχνη του αστικού λαϊκού πολιτισμού και παρουσιάζει μια τοπική εκδοχή του ρεμπέτικου σε μια πόλη για την οποία απουσιάζουν οι αναφορές για την ύπαρξη τέτοιων υποπολιτισμικών μορφωμάτων. Το πραγματολογικό υλικό πάνω στο οποίο δομούνται τα ερμηνευτικά σχήματα της εργασίας προέρχεται από έρευνα πεδίου στο Ηράκλειο Κρήτης από τον Μάρτιο του 1993 έως τον Ιούνιο του 1995 και απαρτίζεται από βιογραφίες (ιστορίες ζωής ηλικιωμένων ατόμων που είχαν εμπλακεί στο παρελθόν σε δραστηριότητες του Λάκκου), εθνογραφικές παρατηρήσεις, ιστοριογραφικό υλικό, αποδελτιωμένα κείμενα εφημερίδων και περιοδικών της εποχής και πληροφορίες αρχειακών πηγών. Η ανάλυση επικεντρώνεται στον βιογραφικό λόγο και στον τρόπο με τον οποίο τα υποκείμενα διαπραγματεύονται τις κοινωνικές συνθήκες ύπαρξης τους. Οι βιογραφικές αναδρομές, μνήμες ανθρώπων διαποτισμένες από παροντικές στοχοθεσίες, αναλύονται ως αφηγηματικές πρακτικές που συγκροτούν μια κοινωνική ποιητική για τον κόσμο του Λάκκου και της μαγκιάς. Στο πλαίσιο του ιστοριογραφικού άξονα αναλύονται ως προς τα ιδεολογικά και κοινωνικά τους συμφραζόμενα, αποδελτιωμένες γραπτές πηγές, διερευνώνται στάσεις του κρατικού μηχανισμού και λόγιες εκφορές κρίσεων για την ιδιότυπη κοινωνική νησίδα και επιχειρείται η ανασύσταση του χρονικού του μετασχηματισμού της πόλης σε μια περίοδο ραγδαίων μεταβολών (Κρητική Πολιτεία, είσοδος προσφύγων κτλ.).
The descriptions (ekphraseis) in the hagiological texts of the palaiologan period

The hagiological texts of the late byzantine period, written by literate writers in a climate of intellectual development and deep religiousness, abound in laudatory descriptions (ekphraseis). Most of them concern the birthplace of the saint to whom the texts are dedicated, despite the frequent initial reserve on the writers’ part about the advisability of the observance of the laws of rhetoric. According to an old rhetorical rule, a person should first be praised because of his birthplace. In the current of the hagiological account, the writers incorporate laudatory descriptions of various cities, mainly Constantinople and Thessaloniki. The elements stressed all derive from centenary rhetorical theory and tradition, with an emphasis on certain elements expressing the new climate of the time: the eternal and universal Constantinople, the inhabitants’ praise because of their occupations and virtues - with an emphasis on the orthodox faith of course. C’est un bien de l’âme, acquis grâce à l’expérience et à la diligence de l’individu lui-même et de ceux qui lui apprendront, selon la logique du phronimou, à prévoir le temps, les circonstances et les événements afin de procéder à une décision correspondante à la fois et d’exécuter un acte correspondant. Par la suite, des postes clés pour l’évaluation et le développement professionnel des enseignants, tels que formulés dans la littérature contemporaine internationale et grecque, font l’objet de cette étude. Je me permets donc de présenter une tabulation et une analyse de la demande de phronèsis de l’enseignant dans son ensemble et de ses implications dans le domaine du développement professionnel, avec la relation d’équivalence trouvée. En particulier, les éléments qui rendent efficaces les actions de perfectionnement professionnel des enseignants et contribuent potentiellement à leur phronèsis sont mis sous examen. Pour cette raison, un effort est fait pour évaluer le développement professionnel efficace des professeurs qui enseignent le grec ancien dans l’enseignement secondaire, en vue de la phronèsis et du but d’améliorer l’enseignement. Grâce à la méthode Delphi, des conclusions sont tirées et des suggestions sont faites qui peuvent être utilisées pour le développement professionnel des philologues, sur la base de la phronèsis de l’enseignant, telles qu’elles sont délivrées par Aristote et Isocrate et adaptées aux besoins contemporains de la pratique éducative. L’argument de base de la thèse présente est que l’enseignement est la phronèsis et que le but d’un développement professionnel efficace est d’acquérir la phronèsis de l’enseignant. EN Phronesis, as evidenced by aristotelian and isocratic texts, which are, first of all, studied in this doctoral thesis, is the intellectual virtue of man to contemplate and to decide on particular situations of human life, based on sound logic and aiming at a prosperous life. It is a good of the soul, acquired through the experience and diligence of the individual himself and those who will teach him, based on the phronimou logic, how to foresee time, circumstances and events, in order to proceed to a corresponding decision at a time and execute an action accordingly. Subsequently, I study key positions for the teacher evaluation and professional development, as formulated through contemporary international and Greek literature.
