Old Greek Job 42—A Surprise at the End of the Road: Intertextual Connections between the Epilogue and the Prologue Introduced by the Translator (original) (raw)
As the title indicates, this paper examines the Epilogue of OG Job and treats the additions and changes that G made to show that Job's fortunes were restored. His restoration precisely followed his life before, moreso in the OG than the Hebrew. Other changes are introduced that provide sequencing and, for example, relate to the treatment of the three friends. This paper appeared in Septuagint, Sages, and Scripture. Studies in Honour of Johann Cook (eds., Randall X. Gauthier, Gideon R. Kotzé, and Gert J. Steyn; Leiden: Brill, 2016), pp. 180–89. This is the pdf submitted to Brill.
