Nepenthes khasiana Hook f., an endangered tropical pitcher plant of India
2019
Nepenthes khasiana Hook f., is the only representative member of the genus Nepenthes found in India. The species has great ethnomedicinal importance in addition to its ornamental value. It is used for treatment of several diseases by the local people of Meghalaya. The plant is also characterized by synthesis of bioactive compound called naphthoquinones which is a potent antifungal agent. However, it has become threatened in its natural habitat due to several anthropogenic activities. N. khasiana has been included in the Appendix-I of CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). The potential for long term survival of this species in the wild is uncertain, but will surely depend upon the continuing efforts of the local communities to preserve its habitats. The present review highlights the significance of the species and also elucidates the recent findings on the species on various aspects.

THAI FOREST BULL., BOT., 2016
This paper describes and illustrates a new species of Nepenthaceae, Nepenthes krabiensis. The new species is closely related to N. rosea which has been found in the same habitat of the wildlife sanctuary of Krabi Province in Sothern Thailand.

HERNAWATI, SATRIA, R. & LEE, C. C. 2022. Nepenthes harauensis, a new species of Nepenthaceae from West Sumatra. Reinwardtia 21(1): 19‒23. — A new species of Nepenthes (Nepenthaceae) from the Harau region of West Sumatra is described as Nepenthes harauensis Hernawati, R.Satria & Chi.C.Lee. This species shares specific characteristics with both N. bongso and N. singalana but is unique in its thickly coriaceous and petiolate leaves, which are elliptic-oblong and have a distinctly peltate tendril insertion.
A skeletal revision of Nepenthes (Nepenthaceae)
Blumea, 1997
A skeletal world revision of the genus is presented to accompany a family account for Flora Malesiana. 82 species are recognised, of which 74 occur in the Malesiana region. Six species are described as new, one species is raised from infraspecific status, and five species are restored from synonymy. Many names are typified for the first time. Three widespread, or locally abundant hybrids are also included. Full descriptions are given for new (6) or recircumscribed (7) species, and emended descriptions of species are given where necessary (9). Critical notes are given for all the species. Little known and excluded species are discussed. An index to all published species names and an index of exsiccatae is given. of Flora Malesiana. For the majority of species, only the original citation and that in Danser (1928) and later publications is given, since Danser's (1928) work provides a thorough and accurate reference to all earlier literature. 74 species are recognised in the region, and three naturally occurring hybrids are also covered for the Flora account. The hybrids N. x hookeriana Lindl. and N. x trichocarpa Miq. are found in Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo, although rare within populations, their widespread distribution necessitates their inclusion in the Flora. By and large other hybrids are rare and sporadic, with the exception of N. x kinabaluensis, which forms a discrete hybrid swarm on Mt Kinabalu.
Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 2009
A new species of Nepenthes L., N. attenboroughii (Nepenthaceae), from Palawan Island in the Philippines, is described and illustrated. It is restricted to rocky, ultramafic soils that comprise the summit region of Mount Victoria, Municipality of Narra, where it occurs in isolation from other members of the genus. On the basis of the morphological features, this new taxon appears to be related to both N. mira Jebb & Cheek of Palawan and N. rajah Hook.f. of Borneo. Its substantial size places it among the largest of known pitcher plants. The diagnostic morphological characters are discussed and an updated key is provided for a revised complex of Nepenthes species from the Palawan and North Borneo phytogeographical region.
