This paper analyzes managerial efficiency in Major League Baseball (MLB) by examining strategic decisions related to sacrifice bunts and base running. It identifies variations across managers and over time, challenges the conventional interpretation of 'Moneyball,' and models the optimal conditions for these strategies using economic concepts. The findings reveal significant differences among managers in their approach to bunting and stealing bases, highlighting the impact of these choices on team performance.
