Sensors and recognition offers new opportunities for human-computer interaction, especially in gesture-based interaction. Interacting with device that support 3D space is awesome but added value such as gesture based input is limitless to the users. The advances of the technology such as gesture-based interaction allow users interact to devices at any location touchless. One of the way people communicate among themselves is using hand gestures. The use of gestures is to express intention in everyday life. Gestures are a common way of interaction with mobile devices. They emerged especially with the iPhone production. Gestures in currently used devices are usually based on the original gestures presented by Apple in its iOS (iPhone Operating System). Therefore, there is a wide agreement on the mobile gesture design. In last years, it is possible to see experiments with gesture usage also in the other areas of consumer electronics and computers. The examples can include televisions, large projections etc. These gestures can be marked as spatial or 3D gestures. They are connected with a natural 3D environment rather than with a flat 2D screen. Nevertheless, it is hard to find a comparable design agreement within the spatial gestures. Various projects are based on completely different gesture sets. Gesture-based system for next generation natural and intuitive interfaces

We present a novel and trainable gesture-based system for next-generation intelligent interfaces. The system requires a non-contact depth sensing device such as an RGB-D (color and depth) camera for user input. The camera records the user's static hand pose and palm center dynamic motion trajectory. Both static pose and dynamic trajectory are used independently to provide commands to the interface. The sketches/symbols formed by palm center trajectory is recognized by the Support Vector Machine classifier. Sketch/symbol recognition process is based on a set of geometrical and statistical features. Static hand pose recognizer is incorporated to expand the functionalities of our system. Static hand pose recognizer is used in conjunction with sketch classification algorithm to develop a robust and effective system for natural and intuitive interaction.
