The new architecture of EU cohesion policy for the programming period 2014-2020, was designed based on the current challenges faced by all regions and member states, such as: emerging from the economic crisis, the impact of globalization, aging and demographic change, technological change and requirements for innovation, environmental and energy problems, and etcetera. Finding integrated solutions, to these diverse and multidimensional problems, is at the heart of the new philosophy of communitarian development, described by Europe 2020 strategy.
