A Comparison on Different Techniques for PAPR and BER Reduction in OFDM Communication Systems

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is an environment friendly multicarrier modulation scheme in wi-fi communication. It is used in functions like 4G (fourth generation) cellular Communications, wi-fi networks, digital television, electricity line networks and audio Broadcasting. It gives each benefits and hazards for multicarrier transmission. The most important benefits are the removal of Inter Carrier Interference (ICI) and Inter Symbol Interference (ISI) in the signal. But OFDM's one of the most important harmful components are excessive Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) price of the transmitted sign which relatively impacts the strength amplifiers complexity. Several strategies to overcome and decrease PAPR such as Tone Reservation (TR), selective mapping (SLM), clipping and filtering, partial transmit sequence (PTS), et are proposed and implemented. Detailed description and comparisons of all methods are mentioned in this paper.

One of the emerging technologies in the field of communications is wireless technology. It provides efficient data transmission and a growing concept for 4G and 5G communications. The concept of OFDM system states that it is a form of multi-carrier modulation. The OFDM system suffers from the drawback of high PAPR i.e. Peak to average Power Ratio. Numerous Techniques such as SLM, PTS, Tone Reservation, Clipping and filtering etc. have been discussed in this review paper which are used to reduce the PAPR effect in OFDM systems.Different parameters such as distortion Rate, data rate, power raise etc. are analyzed with the study of different PAPR reduction techniques.

Multiplexing of the Orthogonal Frequency Division (OFDM) is now the preferred wireless contact modulation technique. OFDM is able to have ample robustness to radio channel impairments with high data levels. Several testing facilities across the globe have expert teams employed to refine OFDM for numerous uses. Throughout the time domain, the transmit signals in an OFDM network may have large peak value s because several subcarrier components are inserted in an IFFT process. OFDM systems, therefore, are considered to have a strong PAPR (Peak-to-Average Capacity Ratio) relative to single-carrier systems. In reality, the high PAPR is one of the most negative aspects of the OFDM system as it increases the Analog-to-Digital Converter and Digital-to-Analog Converter Signal-to-Quantization Noise Ratio while deteriorating the transmitter's power amplifier performance g. The PAPR issue becomes more relevant in uplink as power amplifier output becomes crucial because of the small battery y capacity in a mobile terminal. This research paper explores many methods used in an OFDM method to reduce PAPR. Multiplexing is a specific type of multi-carrier modulation that is especially suited for transmission over a dispersive wave.
ADVANCED APPROACH FOR REDUCING PAPR IN OFDM SYSTEMS TO MINIMIZE INTERFERENCE EFFECT
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing is a popular modulation scheme and finds its use in wireless communication and mostly drawing attention towards 4G mobile communication. Wireless Technology is cardinal as it offers high data rate transmission, which is needed for efficacious communication. The main features of OFDM technique are that it can easily acclimate to severe channel conditions without complex time-domain equalization and is vigorous against Intersymbol Interference (ISI) and fading caused by multipath propagation. But the OFDM system faces the problem of PAPR i.e. Peak to Average Power Ratio. This PAPR effect is tried to be reduced using a combined technique which makes use of clipping and filtering technique along with companding technique. The simulation results show us that the PAPR value reduces to 4.41dB with a value of 128 subcarriers. Earlier used approaches for PAPR reduction were SLM, PTS, Tone reservation etc. The proposed approach shows that PAPR effect is tried to be reduced to a great extent.
PAPR REDUCTION AND BIT ERROR RATE EVALUATION IN OFDM SYSTEM USING HYBRID TECHNIQUES

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has become an important component of waveform generation in wideband transmission. it's a superior technology for the high-speed rate of wired and wireless communication systems. Currently, multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO OFDM) systems are crucial wireless communication systems like 4G and 5G networks & tactical communication. The OFDM has many advantages over other techniques like its high capacity and immunity against multipath fading channels. However, one amongst the foremost drawbacks of the OFDM system is that the high-peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) that leads the system to provide in-band distortion and out-of-band radiation and reduces its efficiency. This problem increases with a rise within the number of transmit antennas. Therefore, it's highly desirable to cut back the PAPR of an OFDM signal. For this, numerous techniques are proposed to beat the PAPR problem like i) Selective mapping (SLM) ii) Partial transmit sequence (PTS), iii) Clipping, iv) Clipping and filtering. All of those are reduced the PAPR by generating alternative subcarrier vector that are statistically independent OFDM symbols for a given data frame and transmitting the symbol with rock bottom peak power. During this paper we also proposed, some hybrid techniques. The hybrid techniques are the technique of clipping is employed in conjunction with SLM and PTS to cut back computational complexity. And also the combination of SLM-PTS to scale back PAPR. Simulations are acquainted with analyze the efficiency of the techniques used which signifies OFDM to be providing much better PAPR reduction and a way better Bit Error Rate (BER). it's shown in simulation results that the proposed scheme performs well reducing PAPR. But the proposed scheme is more complex than the prevailing techniques.
