Abstract: Watermarking is the process of embedding data called a watermark into a multimedia object such that watermark can be detected or extracted later to make an assertion about the object. The multimedia object may be an audio, image or video. The aim may be to provide data authentication, data integrity, copyright and so on, depending upon the need. Watermarking can be done either in spatial domain or in frequency domain, the latter one proves to be more efficient than working in the spatial domain. Working with the watermarking in frequency domain requires transformation tools and in this paper we will discuss these various techniques giving more stress on wavelet transforms.

Frequency Domain Watermarking: An Overview
2003
With rapid growth in computer network and information technology, a large number of copyrighted works now exist digitally as a computer files, and electronic publishing is becoming more popular. These improvements in computer technology increase the problems associated with copyright enforcement and thus future developments of networked multimedia systems are conditioned by the development of efficient methods to protect ownership rights against unauthorized copying and redistribution. Digital watermarking has recently emerged as a candidate to solve this difficult problem. In the first part of this paper we introduces an overview to digital watermarking: The general framework, its main applications, the most important properties, the main aspects used to classify watermarking, and we discuss the attacks that watermarking system may face. Finally we introduce human visual system and its interaction with watermarking as well as some open problems in digital watermarking. In the second part we introduces an overview of watermarking in frequency domain. The general properties for frequency domain as well as specific properties for each sub-domain are introduced. The sub-domains considered are discrete cosine domain, discrete wavelet domain and discrete Fourier domain. We also introduce some different watermarking techniques in each category.
A Survey of Frequency and Wavelet Domain Digital Watermarking Techniques
Due to improvement in imaging technology and the ease with which digital content can be reproduced and manipulated there is a strong need for a digital copyright mechanism to be put in place. There is a need for authentication of the content as well as the owner. It has become easier for malicious parties to make scalable copies of copyrighted content with any compensation to the content owner. Digital Watermarking is being seen as a potential solution to this problem. Till date many different watermarking schemes have been proposed. This paper presents a comprehensive survey of the current techniques that have been developed and their effectiveness.
Survey of Frequency Domain Image Watermarking Techniques
2015
Digital image watermarking methods are suitable for make a simple copyright protection on digital images. There exist a lot of digital image watermarking methods in all over the word. These methods uses spatial or transformation domain to insert for example copyright information (watermark) into original image. Mostly, frequency domain is used to watermark insertion. Especially discrete cosine transforma and discrete wavelet transform are used in many watermarking techniques. Together with these transforms also other methods, like singular value decomposition, forward error-correction codes, etc., are used to increase watermark robustness. This paper describes influence of singular value decomposition and forward errorcorrection codes, concretely on watermark robustness.
Novel Watermarking Methods Based on Frequency Domain
2021
Nowadays, most of digital images are stored in the digital form for future utilization. The digital data protection against illegal use becomes still more important. In the field of digital images, the protection against copying or modifications is most important. One way how to protect digital images is to use digital watermarking techniques. There exist two general ideas: the visible watermark and the invisible watermark. Visible watermarks are mainly known for example as logos of television stations. The invisible watermarks are used especially for author rights authentication to the digital content (image, video). Generally speaking, invisible watermarks can be inserted in the spatial domain or in the transform domain [1]. There exist lots of methods which use the spatial domain for watermark insertion [2] and [3]. The most famous and firstly published method uses the least significant bits of the image data for watermark insertion. However, most of these methods are not robust ...
Digital Video Watermarking Scheme using wavelets with MATLAB
International Journal of Computer Applications
With the extensive use of Internet, transfer or sharing of digital data online is enormous. This leads to easy accessibility and vulnerability to attacks of copyrighted content on large scale. Digital multimedia in the form of videos, audios, text, images or digital documents can easily be manipulated, forged and redistributed for profits. To overcome this problem and protect copyrighted content, Digital Watermarking emerged as a useful solution. The project work is based on two main viewpoints. The first viewpoint describes about the different watermarking techniques and showcases the comparative description of superiority of one technique over the other. It is seen that frequency domain is more suitable domain for watermarking schemes as it yields robust results as compared to other domains such as spatial domain.
A TECHNIQUE OF WATERMARKING USING WAVELET
A wavelet-based image watermarking scheme is proposed, based on insertion of normally distributed random noise watermark in mid-frequency domain. This new approach provides flexibility in determining the pixel to be watermarked and increases the data hiding capacity. It is easy to implement watermark embedding algorithm as well as the corresponding detection algorithm.
