Abstract

ABSTRACT A variational method of constructing discrete vortex models is developed for describing detached flows of an incompressible non-viscous fluid with a fixed point of detachment. Using the detached circumfluence of a semi-infinite plate as the example, the proposed model is compared with the well-known models. The results of a numerical experiment involving the study of an unstable vortex are presented.
