Synopsis of Orchidaceae from Serra do Urubu: an area of montane forest, Pernambuco State, Brazil). This study provides a survey of Orchidaceae species in an area of montane Atlantic Forest in the State of Pernambuco, Brazil. The study area comprises two conservation units (RPPN Frei Caneca and RPPN Pedra D'Anta), forming together the Serra do Urubu, which is located in the border of the Borborema plateau. Orchidaceae is represented in this study area by 81 species and 50 genera. Epidendrum L. (10 spp.) and Habenaria Willd. (four spp.) are the most representative genera. The subtribes Laeliinae (22 spp.) and Pleurothallidinae (14 spp.) together represent about half of the number of species. The high number of orchid species distinguishes Serra do Urubu as one of the richest areas for the family in the Atlantic Forest in northeastern Brazil. Our study also provides 18 new records of species to Pernambuco as well as reporting on about 40% of the species and 60% of the genera cited to the State. Campylocentrum pernambucense, Cattleya labiata, Cattleya granulosa, Phragmipedium sargentianum and Zygostates bradei are cited as endangered, 14 species are endemic to the Atlantic Forest, and other seven have distributions restricted to northeastern Brazil. All these facts reinforce the importance of this area as well as management strategies for the conservation of Orchidaceae. Esse estudo apresenta um inventário taxonômico das espécies da família Orchidaceae em uma área de Floresta Atlântica no Estado de Pernambuco, Brasil. A área de estudo compreende duas unidades de conservação (RPPN Frei Caneca e RPPN Pedra D'Anta) que formam juntas a Serra do Urubu, localizada no limite oriental do planalto da Borborema. Orchidaceae está representada na área por 81 espécies e 50 gêneros, sendo Epidendrum L. (10 spp.) e Habenaria Willd. (quatro spp.) os mais ricos. As subtribos Laeliinae (22 spp.) e Pleurothallidinae (14 spp.) juntas correspondem a cerca da metade do número de espécies. O alto número de orquídeas evidencia a Serra do Urubu como a área mais rica em espécies da família para Floresta Atlântica do Nordeste do Brasil. Esse estudo apresenta 18 novos registros para o Estado de Pernambuco, e inclui cerca de 40% das espécies e 60% dos gêneros citados para o Estado. Survey and distribution of the Orchidaceae family on the ''Veredas do Cerrado'' farm, municipality of Buritis, Minas Gerais, Brasil (Atena Editora), 2023
Classified into more than twenty-five thousand species in the world, the Orchidaceae family is the largest among angiosperms, however, they are not plants found in abundance in their places of origin, and this fact may be related to the complexity of propagation, deterioration of the environment and uncontrolled extractivism. Orchids from the Savanna of Minas Gerais are threatened by deforestation for the creation of planting and pasture areas. Of the species found in the state of Minas Gerais, 98 are threatened with extinction. The objective of the study was to carry out a floristic survey of orchid species in an area of the savanna, in order to identify the species in the region, as well as the preferences, needs and abundance of each species. The survey of orchid species was carried out on the farm ‘’Veredas do Cerrado’’, municipality of Buritis, Minas Gerais, Brazil, between May and December 2020. Fortnightly field trips were carried out to search for orchid species. Of the specimens found, the plant part close to the flowering was photographed using a professional photographic camera (Canon), using objectives with long-range lenses (18-55 mm, 75-300 mm), in order to facilitate the identification of individuals. Six genera were registered and identified near the water bodies of the farm: ''Veredas do Cerrado'', in the municipality of: Buritis, MG, Brasil, and they are described here: Acianthera, Cattleya, Epidendrum, Gomesa, Habenaria, Zygostates. Of these genera, species were identified: Gomesa fuscopetala (Hoehne) M.W. Chase & N.H. Williams, Gomesa macropetala (Lindl.) M.W. Chase & N.H. Williams, Encyclia patens Hook., Epidendrum densiflorum Hook., Epidendrum nocturnum Jacq., Epistephium williamsii Hook.f. It is concluded that despite the short period of sample collection, the records of the Orchidaceae family obtained in the surveys were significant, as there is a wealth of individuals in the area. Most of the specimens were not in flowering, therefore, they were not identified until the species taxon. Thus, new visits are being carried out, at different times of the year, to photograph the flowering of all species of the registered genera for their identification and cataloguing.

The Espinhaço Range is a mountain complex located between 20°35'S and 11°11'S, extending from the city of Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais to Jacobina, Bahia state, where it receives the name of Chapada Diamantina (Giulietti et al. 1987) (Figure 1). The Serra do Cipó is located in the southern portion of Espinhaço Range, in Minas Gerais state, where the high altitudes and rocky soil favor the development of the campos rupestres (rocky fields), type of vegetation that grows in shallow quartzite soil above 1000 m.
Survey of orchidaceae from the State of Sergipe, Brazil

The state of Sergipe, located in the Northeast Region of Brazil, covers an area of 21,994 km² and is the smallest state in the country. The vegetation of this region is predominantly caatinga, but there are also mangroves, dunes, restinga, fragments of original Atlantic Forest (which are intermingled with pastures, secondary growth, and agricultural land) and cerrado. During intensive fieldwork in Sergipe, we observed various Orchidaceae species that had not been recorded for the state, which made it necessary to update the list of species for this region. Within the state, the family is represented by 63 species and 34 genera, of which Habenaria (10 spp.) Epidendrum (4 spp.) and Encyclia (4 spp.) are highlights. Orchidaceae species from this region are generally terrestrial and occur in grasslands (59%, 37 of 63 spp.). The remaining species are epiphytes (21 spp.) and hemiepiphytes (3 spp.). The aim of the present study was to evaluate the Orchidaceae family in the Serra do Mucambo, Conceição do Coité, Bahia and to describe the local population distribution patterns, as well as discuss local factors that influenced species distribution. Sixteen species in 14 genera were found. The genera Trichocentrum and Vanilla presented the highest number of species, with two each. All species displayed aggregated distribution. The highest abundance and species richness were found at higher altitudes. Availability of resources is possibly the main factor influencing species distribution.

The Brazilian Atlantic Forest presents high levels of richness and endemism of several taxonomic groups. Within this forest, the Orchidaceae may be highlighted as the richest family of Angiosperms found there, and is highly threatened due to collection and habitat destruction. The inselbergs of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest are mostly unknown regarding their floristic composition, but the available information points to occurrence of endemic species, with adaptations to survive to this dry environment. The objectives of this study were to conduct a floristic survey of the Orchidaceae species on the Maciço do Itaoca, an inselberg located in the Northern region of the State of Rio de Janeiro, make a comparative analysis with other sites in Eastern Brazil, and discuss the geographic distribution, floristic relationships and conservation status of the orchid species present on the inselbergs. The floristic composition of the study area was compared with 24 other locations in Eastern Brazil (of which 13 are inselbergs) and the influence of the types of surrounding vegetation on the composition of the Orchidaceae flora on the inselbergs. The neotropical riparian forests are widely studied, but there are little informations about orchids in phytophisiognomies. The aim of this study was to characterize the floristic composition, and ecological relationship and categories related to habitat of Orchidaceae family representatives in riparian forest in Semideciduous Seasonal Forest fragment in Araras, SP. By the demarcation of 20 plots of 20 X 10 m (400 m2) parallel to the local water body, it was sampled 10 genera and 12 species: Baptistonia cornigera, Campylocentrum grisebachii, Campylocentrum robustum, Capanemia micromera, Catasetum fimbriatum, Cattleya loddigesii, Oeceoclades maculata, Pleurothallis miniato-lineolata, Polystachya estrellensis, Sacoila lanceolata and Lophiaris pumila. Orchidaceae in Santa Catarina: Update, geographic distribution and conservation

This study consists of a checklist and an analysis of the spatial distribution of the species of Orchidaceae of the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. Based on literature, the accepted names and current synonyms for the species in the state are cited. The occurrence of 121 genera and 560 accepted species was detected, 12 of them endemic. Of the three subfamilies represented in the state, Epidendroideae is the most representative, with 94 genera and 432 species, followed by Orchidoideae with 25 genera and 122 species, and Vanilloideae, with only two genera and six species. According to the criteria of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, 24 species fall within the vulnerable category, seven are endangered and four are critically endangered. The life form, plant formation and habitat of each species are also presented.
