DENTAL PATIENTS PERCEPTIONS AND KNOWLEDGE ON TOOTH BLEACHING

Aim: The main aim of the study is to assess the perceptions and knowledge on tooth bleaching among patients visiting various dental health care centers in Riyadh. KSA Materials & Methods: A cross sectional survey based study was conducted at four dental health care centres in Riyadh. The survey was based on face to face interview which utilized a structured questionnaire. The data obtained was analysed utilizing frequency distribution and chi square test. Results: No statistically significant relationship was found between knowledge / perception regarding teeth bleaching and age (p= 0.250), gender (p=0.189), ethnic group (p= 0.966), level of education (p= -0.843) or marital status (p= 0.552). 80% of the subjects were dissatisfied with the appearance of their teeth, colour being the main reason. 70% of the dissatisfied patients stated that B1 – vita shade was the shade which they preferred. The main source of information regarding tooth bleaching was advertisements, while, the commonest method of tooth bleaching was bleaching toothpaste. 23% subjects didn’t consider bleaching treatment safe. Conclusion: Majority of the patients were aware about tooth bleaching as a treatment. Tooth color was the main reason for seeking bleaching treatment. Tooth color was the main reason for seeking bleaching treatment and shade B1 was the whitest and the most choosen color.

Knowledge, Attitude And Practice Survey On Nonvital Bleaching Among Dentist

A cross-sectional KAP study was conducted using a questionnaire with closed questions among dentists of Chennai region. Information was collected regarding dental qualification, level of specialization. In addition, options regarding bleaching therapies including the first choice of material, technique and clinical practice for nonvital tooth bleaching therapies were included. A total number of 122 responses were received. In office bleaching therapy was broadly preferred (92%) over at home (8%) bleaching. For in office bleaching, the majority of the dentists answered to use Hydrogen peroxide followed by sodium perborate for nonvital therapies. In conclusion, the results of this study demonstrated that inoffice bleaching was broadly preferred over at home bleaching for nonvital teeth. The Hydrogen peroxide agents were preferred for nonvital tooth bleaching followed by sodium perborate.

Dentists’ preference for Vital and Non-vital Tooth Bleaching Material in Teaching Institutions of Multan

Knowledge, attitude and practice based survey on intracoronal bleaching among undergraduate dental students

Introduction: Intracoronal bleaching is a simple, useful procedure for restoring the colour of discoloured root - filled teeth that are not extensively restored. Aim: The aim of the study is to assess the knowledge, awareness and perception on intracoronal bleaching among undergraduate dental students. Materials and methods: A descriptive cross sectional survey was conducted among 100 undergraduate dental students through a self administered questionnaire. The responses were collected, tabulated in excel sheets and analysed using SPSS software. Chi square test was used to analyze the level of knowledge on intracoronal bleaching among dental students in different years of study with statistical significance of P< 0.05. Attitude and Awareness Toward Dental Bleaching among selective samples in Benghazi-Libya

Background and Aim: Bleaching is the lightening of tooth color by a chemical material. Bleaching nowadays is based on the use of hydrogen peroxide in various concentrations. This study is addressed the Perceptions and Prevalence regarding tooth bleaching among selective samples of patients in Benghazi-Libya. Methods: This is a prospective cross-sectional questionnaire-based online Survey. Distributed randomly among selected individuals in Libyan international medical university and social media (Snapchat and Twitter) via the link in Google Sheets. The questionnaire was formulated based on similar studies. A test re-test pilot study was carried out to assess the validity and consistency of the questionnaire. Divided into four parts according to risk factors: Socio-demographic data (gender, age, nationality, marital status, educational status, cigarette smoke, pipe tobacco user, and occupational status). Results: statistical analysis showed differences among the gender whether they are visiting the dental (p=0.222). A significant difference was observed in dissimilitude among the knowledge regarding bleaching (p=0.032), and there was a significant difference among the complications following tooth bleaching, (P=0.107). Conclusion: all the precipitants are heard about tooth bleaching via their dentists, and prefer to use home bleaching. Adverse Effects of Tooth Bleaching and Its Management

Quality of life could be negatively influenced or compromised by discolouration of even a single teeth ,the demand therefore for aesthetic dentistry and bleaching procedure has increased exponentially over the last decade.Tooth bleaching is intended for improving tooth color and has become an accepted and popular dental procedure in aesthetic dentistry.However,as with any dental procedure, bleaching also involves certain controversies and adverse effects like post operative tooth sensitivity,gingival irritation,resorption,effects of bleaching on restorative materials;although tooth bleaching is a minimally invasive and relatively low-cost procedure it does not offer a permanent solution for tooth to minimize risks and maximize benefits,the involvement and consent of dental professionals in bleaching treatment is necessary during the treatment procedures. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the negative ramifications of tooth bleaching and throw light on subsequent adverse effects and its management to determine if it’s truly safe.
