Transformation of Traditional Arts Performances as Cultural Tourism Attraction: Case Study of Saung Angklung Ujdo

In the current era of globalization, tradition arts performing needs the attention of various parties. It is related to the principle of preservation of cultural traditions, that is, the tradition arts performing should still be preserved. At the same time, globalization so powerfully grinds the tradition arts performing. One of the effects of globalization in the field of tourism was marked by the exploration of cultural tourism attractions including the tradition arts performing. The alternative solution to these problems is cultural adaptation (adaptation of tradition arts performances) in accordance with the demands of time, but without compromising the essence of it. This article aims to describe how the transformation of the traditional art performances at Saung Angklung Udjo presents as the attraction of cultural tourism that attracts tourists. A qualitative approach is used to analyze the topic through the performing observation and deep interview to get the information and data. The results showed that Saung Angklung Udjo has made changes to the tradition arts performing as being one of the attractions that attract cultural tourism by working on some of the components and the basic elements of the performance. Tradition arts performance at Saung Angklung Udjo is relatively simple, densely packed, entertaining, and interactive without losing the essence of the tradition arts performance. It is one of the alternative attractiveness of cultural tourism that supports the tourism industry.

Makotek as a Tourist Attraction in Munggu Village, Bali

Abstract-The purpose of this study is to comprehend the Makotek as a tourist attraction in village Munggu, Bali. In general, the tourism destination will be developed in sustainable way if it has many touristic potentials. Meanwhile, the phenomena in Munggu village is different. Although this village doesn't have hospitality resources or special tourism event, but every Kuningan, Munggu is always full of tourists to witness the Makotek. The questions are : (1) How is the Makotek performed?; (2) Why are the tourists interested to watch?; (3) How is the management could be developed in sustainable way? This study utilized qualitative method. Type and source data are obtained through observation, interview, FGD and literary study. The entire data is analyzed by using interdiciplinary approach. The result shows that : (1) The Munggu people march in a parade carrying the ceremonial equipments going around of Munggu village. At every cross section, they make the pyramids; (2) The tourists are interested to watch Makotek because, it contains esthetic ideology and self-actualisation ideology; (3) Makotek until now can be developed because it gives creative economy contribution. It could strengthen the foundation of social relation in managing local cultural tradition in global era.

Developing Tourism Village from Arts and the Citizens’ Activities (Case of Dago Pojok, Bandung, Indonesia)

Dago Pojok is an area located on Dago Pojok Street, Coblong district, Bandung, West Java. In this area, there is a village which is full of arts both the decoration and the citizens" activities. Because of its unique, this village is called "Kampung Kreatif Dago Pojok". In the past, this village was one of a troubled region because of motorcycle gang existed there. In 2003, a community called Taboo Community came to Dago Pojok for making art training to its citizens. The arts are mural, painting, wall decoration, statue, photography, traditional music instruments, and traditional games. In making this paper, the data are collected by interview to the initiator of "Kampung Kreatif Dago Pojok" direct observation, and studies from articles in several media. The data were analyzed by referring to the theories of innovation diffusion, social exchange, social learning, and organizational communication. "Kampung Kreatif Dago Pojok" has already successfully in changing, from a troubled area became a tourism destination that still in development in Bandung. Minangkabau Tribe in West Sumatra hasone cultural problem, namely the traditional art of Ambek-Ambek Dance. This study aims to find out whether the art of Ambek-Ambek Nagari Koto Gadang - Koto Anau Dance can be used as a cultural tourism attraction in Solok Regency. This article aims to discuss the Renteng Dance in Saren Village, Nusa Penida, which is actually the forerunner of the Rejang Renteng Dance performance, which is now widely danced by mothers in the context of the dewa yadnya ceremony in Bali. This study aims at describing the commodi cation processes and the form of politicization of culture used as the background of tourism village development toward several community empowerment activities. Conservation of Folk Dance in the Era of Cultural Tourism

This study aims to examine the conservation strategy of folk dance in supporting the growth of cultural tourism, where the case study was conducted in Tanon village, Semarang Regency .Tanon was officially inaugurated as a Tourism Village, especially for the folk dance (Desa Wisata Menari) in 2012, for this reason, a conservation strategy is needed so that the folk dance in Tanon is maintained. The research uses qualitative method through ethnochoreology approach. The data collection is done through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis of data uses the Miles and Hubberman model. The results of this study indicate the nature of the conservation strategy of four agents, namely the actors, the supporting community, the government, and the private sector. Each agent performs its role in supporting conservation efforts. The art conservation strategy to support tourism is done by classifying 'art for art' and 'art for mart'. The conclusion of this research is that folk dance will be able to adapt to the development of the era including the tourism era if the actors, the community, and the government work together. The advice given is that the actors and the community are able to put traditional dance in accordance with its function, so it can take an important position in the hearts of the people who enjoy it.
