Offshoring and its implications for the information systems discipline (original) (raw)
Outsourcing, especially offshoring, has evolved significantly since its inception, increasingly impacting the information systems (IS) discipline. This paper explores the implications of offshoring for IS, addressing the motivations behind the trend, such as cost reduction and access to skilled labor in countries like India and China. By analyzing the current state and future challenges of offshoring for the IS community, the paper aims to provoke discussion and reflection on how professionals in the discipline should respond to these changes.
