Okul Öncesi Dönemindeki Çocukların Aile İlişkileri İle Çocuklarda Görülen Davranış Problemleri Arasındaki İlişkinin İncelenmesi (original) (raw)
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between children’s relations with family in preschool period and behavioral problems in children. The study sample consisted of 48- to 66-month-old children who attended a public kindergarten of the Ministry of National Education in Düzce city center in 2015-2016 school year and their mothers (n = 170). Data were collected using a Personal Information Form prepared by the researchers, "the Problem Behavior Scale" (Alisinanoğlu and Özbey, 2009) and “the Child Parent Relationship Scale – Mother Form", which was tested for validity and reliability in Turkish culture by Akgün and Yeşilyaprak (2010). The results showed that the surveyed children’s gender, their ages and mothers’ levels of education did not lead to significant differences in the children's levels of child-mother relationships. However, the children’s mothers’ ages, the children’s birth orders and total durations of time the children attended pre-school institutions caused a statistically significant difference. Also, analysis of the level of the children's behavior problems based on several variables revealed that the children’s gender and mothers’ levels of education showed no significant difference for behavioral problems in children. On the other hand, there was a significant difference between the children's birth orders, the mothers’ ages and the status of getting help from experts and the level of problem behavior in children. Finally, there was a significant relationship between the family relationship levels of the children and their problem behaviors, and the behavior problems in the children increased in parallel to the increase in the level of mother-child conflict.
