Workplace incivility can be best explained with the help of the incivility continuum which ranges from negative behavior to physical aggression. This research paper finds the various factors affecting the workplace incivility of employees of sales department employed with banking and financial sector. In the study, impact of incivility from colleagues and manager has been found to be significant on turnover intention, which was tested by ordinal regression. Sample size in the study is 340.

This study aims to investigate and analyze the role of organizational context on workplace incivility and turnover intention. The research sample was 120 employees who work at the company engaged in the service industry. Multiple regression analysis was used to test the research hypotheses. The results found that organizational context influences workplace incivility, which in turn increases turnover intention. As a consequence, it is important for the organization to enhance alertness towards the occurrence of the employees’ workplace incivility. Incivility has been identified as a prevalent and crucial issue in workplaces and one that may be associated with detrimental effects on employees and organizational outcomes, such as turnover intention. Employee's turnover intention that is related to organisational behaviour has been a serious concern in many organisations. Negative workplace behaviour is known as "workplace incivility" has shown strong relation to the adverse outcomes such as intention to quit or emotional exhaustion. Even though the vital incivility role in employee's working life is realized, research on moderators and mediators in the relationship between workplace incivility and organisational outcome are scarce. Therefore, this study will examine the mediation effect of distress and the moderating effect of workplace social support on the relationship between incivility and employee's turnover intention by adapted Job-Resource Demand (JD-R) model. A quantitative research approach using a selfcompletion questionnaire will be distributed to employees who are working in the casual dining restaurant in the Central region of Malaysia. This study will employ non-probability sampling, and more than 800 employees are expected to participate. The analysis of the data will use Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using AMOS. The findings of this study expected will help food service organisation to pinpoint the types and patterns of unusual behaviour in the workplace and contemplate how their employee respond to workplace incivility. Therefore better strategies can be formulated to minimise turnover intention among employees.

Workplace Incivility: The Slow Death of Organizational Efficiency

This study is an effort to identify various factors which contribute to workplace incivility and the identification of after effects of incivility at workplace through extensive literature review. Workplace incivility represents aberrant behaviors demonstrated either by superiors, co-workers and customers. These behaviors are of low intensity in comparison to workplace bullying and has ambiguous nature; i.e., there might be no specific intention to cause harm to the person. The band of incivility ranges from having negative behaviour which may also lead to verbal aggression and physical aggression in some cases. There are basically two occurrence of incivility namely overt instances and covert instances. The former includes instances which can be seen such as aggressive behaviour whereas the latter represent the instances which are hidden and may not be visible but may have a long lasting impact on the employees. The factors contributing to workplace incivility identified are organizational aspects, demographic variables, source of incivility, past experience to incivility, sociocultural perspectives and personality types. The outcomes of incivility can be on organizational wellbeing or individual wellbeing or both. Workplace incivility aggravates to employee dissatisfaction, turnover intention, low conscientiousness, high instances of ostracism, low employee morale, low affective commitment and many more which are detrimental to organizational efficiency. Various studies have shown that incivility has effects on mental and physical health of the target. Incivility may be experienced by an individual or individuals belonging to a particular strata characterized on the basis of age, colour, gender, race, designation, financial background, caste or religion and alike.

Workplace Incivility and Job Satisfaction

Workplace incivility is common in organizations across the world and can have negative effects on individuals and organizations. The purpose of the reported study is to examine the effects of supervisor and coworker incivility on job satisfaction and examines emotion management as a mediator of these relationships. Data from 268 working adults were collected by survey battery and analyzed via a number of multivariate techniques. The model was supported in that both supervisor and coworker incivility had strong direct negative effects on emotion management and job satisfaction, and emotion management partially mediated the incivility-job satisfaction relationship. With supervisor and coworker incivility, the participants reported lower levels of job satisfaction. However, the participants' emotion management mitigated the negative effect of incivility on job satisfaction partially. EXPLORING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WORKPLACE INCIVILITY AND PRODUCTIVITY: AN EMPIRICAL INVESTIGATION

Purpose-This empirical study examined how workplace incivility is related to the productivity of employees working in organized retail. Design/Methodology/approach-Workplace incivility and productivity consist of (task performance, organizational support, social support from the supervisor, and social support from coworkers) were extensively reviewed in the study. Purposive sampling was used to select the respondents for the study. Data collected has been validated using confirmatory factor analysis and hypotheses have been tested through structural equation modeling. Findings-The results of the SEM analysis showed that the hypothetical model had a good fit with the data. Results suggest that there is a significant negative relationship between workplace incivility and productivity among employees. This implies that when employees experience incivility in the workplace, their productivity decreases. Conclusion-Organizations need to take steps to prevent and address workplace incivility to improve employee productivity. Research Limitations/Implications-This study was conducted in an Indian cultural context, which could be extended to other Asian countries. Further, explore the effectiveness of different interventions for preventing and addressing workplace incivility, as well as the factors that may moderate the relationship between workplace incivility and productivity. Originality/value-The paper empirically identifies the relationship between workplace incivility and productivity in the Indian context. Further, this model developed can be used for future research keeping it as a base.
