Birds are bioindicators used to detect environmental change and biodiversity studies of these organisms becomes essential for this role, but few is the knownledge of the species occurring in the northwest region of Rio de Janeiro, an environment with high level of degradation. Therefore, this work presents an inventory of the avifauna occurring in degraded areas located in the northwest of Rio de Janeiro state. The survey took place for twelve months was performed in two previously defined areas of a rural space belonging to the municipality of Natividade, RJ, totaling 154 hours of observations in each area and in a list of 76 species, with the greatest richness belonging to the families Tyrannidae and Thraupidae. Has prevailed the dietary habits insectivorous, frugivorous and omnivorous.
