This paper examines how Spanish television networks are adapting to the Internet's potential and how they are using the Web as a platform to elaborate and distribute news content. The redesign of the leading commercial networks Telecinco´s and Antena 3's websites and the launching of an online news service by public channel RTVE indicate that Spanish broadcasters are increasing their convergence with online operations and are developing stronger journalistic offerings. This paper compares the online news services in each of these three networks, with the objective of finding similarities and differences, as well as outlining their main strategies. Using a content analysis methodology, the essential characteristics of online journalism are analysed in each website: multimedia, hypertext, interactivity, user-generated content and social networks. It is also enquired to what extent the journalistic content available in these websites is adapted to the online language or it rather maintains the basic audiovisual structure of conventional television narrative. The production of television and online news also shows an increasing level of newsroom integration in these media. Journalists' changes in the working systems and routines, as well as their attitudes towards converged news production are explored, with particular emphasis on how it might influence the quality of their journalistic output.
New Functions Of Journalism In The Digital Environment
The digital environment makes the notion 'journalism' quite a loose concept as well as changes content consumption patterns. At present traditional media is undergoing a transformation. Both digital communication and gadgetization strengthen the role of journalism and generate such new media paradigms. The identification of a new role of journalism is the main task of this article. We would like to take a look at trends and tendencies occurring in both emerging digital environment and journalism. For this purpose the hypothesis that there are two key functions of journalism in the digital environment has been advanced. 1function of «self-identification»: Info-communication media supplements traditional media content with some content and products of new media. Digitalization eliminates differences between mass media and types of social media content. Mass communication is becoming 'customized' and 'personal niche', the most corresponding to interests and preferences of a user. An internet platform gives a reader a possibility to highlight his role by choosing a particular platform on the ground of some competitive advantage. 2 -function of «initiation»: By putting forward the function of 'initiation', we appeal to the case where the use of the term 'initiator' in relation to the rite of initiation (registration on any social network) is permissiblein reference to a person or a group of people who insisted on carrying it out.
News Media companies and journalists have seen their role changed with the rise of a new type of social organisation: the Information Society. The rapid evolution of digital resources transform how audiences respond and interact with new data, faster local and worldwide news. This research reading paper seeks to analyse that hasty change in some media companies in United Kingdom (BBC, The Scotsman), Ecuador (El Comercio), China and USA (The New York Times) in particular, but also will study the implications of the evolution in media from traditional to digital in a wider level. The intention of this research work is to cover some successes, failures, and corrections that traditional media had to face in order to find a place within the information society.

2021
This paper is a result of the project News, networks, and users in the hybrid media system. Transformation of media industries and the news in the post-industrial era (RTI2018-095775-B-C43). We present our insights on the latest movements of the Spanish media industry and their influence in the conception of news production during 2020. Specifically, we focus on the implementation of news business models, namely paywalls and membership models, and the movements regarding intellectual property to protect the industry – and their impact on journalists as well. The irruption of the COVID-19 pandemics has accelerated some tendencies in this respect.
