Citation Analysis of Doctoral Theses Submitted to the Department of Chemistry, Dibrugarh University, Assam, India

2020

The present study is based on 13057 citations, appended in the 34 Doctoral theses of Chemistry submitted to Dibrugarh university, Assam to confer Ph.d degree during the period of 2015-2019.The primary objectives of this study was to investigate authorship pattern of the citations, type and form of literature cited, and compiled a rank list of core journals in chemistry. The study revealed the fact that journals were the most favourite source of information among Research Scholars in Chemistry Department. The data reveals the fact that journals achieved highest no of citation which is10446 followed by books with 11.76 % citations. The Journal Chemical Review occupy 987 citations accounting for 9.45 % of the total journal citations. Journal of American Chemical Society with 7.46% citation occupies the second in the ranking list, it is followed by Macromolecules 6.29% with 657 citations .In terms of Authorship pattern for journal, triple author articles are more cited than single autho...

Publishing Trends of Indian Chemical Scientists: A Bibliometric Study

The present study highlights the authorship trend and collaborative research in chemistry in India during 1996India during -2000. The study found that team research is preferred in the field of chemistry rather than solo research. The degree of collaboration is calculated and found to be 0.76. The degree of collaboration varies from year to year and is found to be 0.72 to 0.83. Average number of authors per paper has increased from 7.52 to 8.39.

CITATION ANALYSIS OF DOCTORAL THESES IN CHEMISTRY: A STUDY OF TRIPURA UNIVERSITY

Journal of Indian Library Association, 2021

The study is carried out to find out the different authorship pattern followed in the field of Chemistry by analysing citations from the doctoral theses. The theses submitted to the central library, Tripura University in the area of Chemistry were considered for the study. Theses submitted during 2007-2016 constitute the sample. For this time period, a total of 20 Chemistry theses were found in the library with 6214 citations. 311 citations per thesis were observed from the study. Journals were found to be the most cited type of documents followed by books. It is clearly evident that multi-authorship is dominant in the field of Chemistry with 5423 citations having a share of 87.27 %. Very high collaborative research activities were noticed in Chemistry literature from the study. It was revealed that 2 to 5 authors groups and 6 to 10 groups are more productive group of researchers compared to other research groups. It was shown from the dataset that the researchers in the field of Chemistry use more of recent studies than that of old ones.

MAPPING OF INDIAN CHEMICAL SCIENCE LITERATURE: A SCIENTOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF PUBLICATIONS OUTPUT DURING 2005 – 2014

The objective of this work was to analyse the scientometric parameters for Indian Chemical Science literature. The paper analyses publications data in Web of Science (WOS) database for the period 2005 to 2014 for identifying the scientometrics analysis of India in Chemical Science literature. An several parameters, including contribution and citation impact of the most productive countries, India's overall contribution, its growth rate and doubling time, citation impact, international collaboration, identification of the significant participating countries in India's international collaboration, and impact of leading Indian

Bibliometric Analysis of Indian Journal of Chemistry, Section B to Study the Usage Pattern of Information in the Field of Material Science

Library Philosophy and Practice, 2016

1. IntroductionBibliometrics is a relatively new branch of information science and has now become a standard tool of science policy and research management in the last decades. Pritchard explained the term bibliometrics as "the application of mathematical and statistical methods to books and other media of communication" (Pritchcard,1969). Communication media comprises of books, papers in serials, periodicals, monographs, reports , thesis, e-books and e-journals. Regarding the scope of bibliometrics, O'Connor and Voos (1981) states that "its scope includes the study of the relationship among documents e.g. citation studies or describing a literature. Typically, these descriptions f ocus on consistent patterns involving authors, monographs, journals or subject/language". The backbone of bibliometrics lies on some theoretical foundation, laid by some pioneers, such as, Lotka, Gro ss, Bradford, Zipf, Derek J de Solla Price, Bookstein, Mandelbrot, Brookes, Narin,...

A Scientometric Study of Chemistry Research in India (1999-2012

Research Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2015

The present paper emphasizes the productivity of chemistry research in India during 1999-2012. For the said purpose, web of Science database is used to collect the data. The results reveal that: The leading journal preferred by the scientists was Asian Journal of Chemistry (India) with 4817 publications, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad ranked first (4739 publications) among the different institutions / organizations and J. S. Yadav from Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad ranked first with a total of 863 publications to his credit.

indian journal of chemistry

The Present study deals with bibliometric analysis of articles and references provided at the end of each article contributed in Indian Journal of Chemistry Section B, Vol.52B , 2013.The study is carried out with a view to ascertain the types of documents most frequently used in the research process. The study indicates the authorship trend is towards team works rather than a work in isolation It is observed that most of the publications cited are arti cles in journals; the number of references in other kinds of documents such as books/monographs, conference proceedings, theses/dissertation etc. are small. Among the citations from journal literature, majority are from foreign journals though the journals of Indian origin have also extensively used by the researchers. The most frequently cited journal titles were Tetrahedron Letter, Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, Journal of Organic Chemistry. The findings from this study could help in deciding titles of journals to be acquired, to continue or discontinue a subscription for a library.
