Development of Renewable Energy based Hybrid System for Electricity Generation-A Case Study

Energy demand always lags energy supply in developing countries, which results in energy crisis. The conventional energy sources are finite and exhaustible. The solution to problem of energy crisis is utilization of renewable energy. Renewable energy sources are usually found in small scale, decentralized with regard to different geographical distribution, transition to renewable energy sources is viable option as the price of oil and gas continues to fluctuate. As an alternative to custom, onsite construction of centralized power plants, renewable systems based on PV arrays, windmills, Biofuel energy based systems or small hydropower, can be mass-produced " energy appliances " capable of being manufactured at low cost and tailored to meet specific energy loads and service conditions. , to make optimum utilization of renewable energy there exists a need to integrate the different renewable energy systems. The present work involves development of Renewable Energy based hybrid system for electricity generation that can supply desired power continuously throughout the year irrespective of fluctuation of energy available from standalone systems. The energy assessment has been done using Homer simulation tool for developing small solar-wind hybrid system, performance evaluation has been done.

Hybrid Power System Based on Renewable Energies: A Future for Sustainable Energy Solutions

2014

Electricity is recognized as the key driver of economic growth and development for any developing country. Most of the electricity generation in India is carried by conventional energy source which also heavily harm the eco-system by the emissions of greenhouse gasses but still around one third of total population in India has no access to electricity, this is due to rapid growth of population and also the fact that extension of existing grid is a long term process. This work gives an overview on the role of hybrid Renewable Energy Sources (RES) precisely solar and wind to meet the electricity demand of country keeping in view the production and consumption. It also deals with the concepts of using hybrid RES which may provide an intermediary solution especially for small towns and villages which are yet to be electrified under rural electrification program. The major system components of a PV-wind hybrid system and their technological configurations along with design parameters for...

CURRENT STATUS OF HYBRID SOLAR - WIND POWER GENERATION SYSTEM

The oil shocks of 1970s led to spiraling crude oil prices in the world market which prompted planners to view energy security as an issue of national strategic importance. Energy security has an important bearing on achieving national economic development goals and improving the quality of life of the people. World's dependence on crude oil will continue for most part of the 21st century but the continued dependence on crude oil is loaded against it with inherent price volatility linked to finite global reserves. In addition, global warming, caused largely by greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel energy generating systems, is also a major concern. So, there is a need to develop alternate fuels like non-conventional sources, considering the aforesaid two concerns. This paper describes about the hybrid (solar + wind energy) systems, one of the non-conventional sources and different ways of using it to convert to electric energy. This gives energy continuously around the clock. Hybrid systems are use full for all atmospheric conditions for producing energy at moderate cost.

Student,Mechanical Department, Presidency University, Itgalpur Rajanakunte, Yelahanka, Bengaluru, Karnataka, pin.no560064, India. ---------------------------------------------------------------------***---------------------------------------------------------------------Abstract The study presents HYBRID RENEWABLE ENERGY SYSTEMS (HRES), a technology which is under a heavy research phase. As world's power consumption is increasing regularly and consequently, demand for more power generation is inevitable. So this power demand can be produced by Renewable energy resources up to some significant percentage of total demand. Different Hybrid Systems can play an effective role to overcome our future energy consumptions with a cost-effective energy conversion system. Integration of these resources is highly appreciated for providing a reliable power source to the world. In this paper HRES, Different Hybrid Systems and Completely Renewable Hybrid Power Plant (solar, wind, biomass, and h...

Hybrid power generation using solar and wind energy

Young Scientist, 2018

Renewable energy sources have become a popular alternative electrical energy source where power generation in conventional ways is not practical. Now a day's electricity is most needed facility for the human being. All the conventional energy resources are depleting day by day. So we have to shift from conventional to non-conventional energy resources. In this, the combination of two energy resources is takes place i. e. wind and solar energy. This process reviles the sustainable energy resources without damaging the nature. We can give uninterrupted power by using hybrid energy system. Basically this system involves the integration of two energy system that will give continuous power. Solar panels are used for converting solar energy and wind turbines are used for converting wind energy into electricity. This electrical power can utilize for various purpose. Generation of electricity will be takes place at affordable cost. This paper deals with the generation of electricity by using two sources combine which leads to generate electricity with affordable cost without damaging the nature balance.

Hybrid renewable energy system to maximize the electrical power production

2016 International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference (IRSEC), 2016

Hybridization of solar and wind energy to supply an electrical load demand is considered as a realistic approach aiming to take the benefit of these power generation sources and facilitate their integration for a stand-alone and grid-connected application. However, an under-sizing of the hybrid system mays disturbs the operation of all-electric equipment; on the contrary, an over-sizing may turn higher the investment cost of the hybrid system. Therefore an appropriate size of the hybrid renewable plant could help to guarantee the minimal cost of integration with the maximum power reliability. A specific design under TRNSYS and Matlab has been used to assess weather condition of solar irradiation, wind speed, and temperature for the selected referee cities, after, a determined load demand profile of a laboratory prototype is used to describe daily energy consumption. Then a dynamic simulation of energy output performance for different hybrid configuration is analyzed during one year; as a result, only one optimized configuration is chosen for each referee cities with respect of minimal investment cost and maximal power reliability. Finally, a techno-economic investigation of the chosen optimized solution is presented as a result and discussed, as well as an environmental assessment. DEVELOPMENT OF HYBRID POWER GENERATION MODEL USING RAIN WATER, SOLAR AND WIND

Renewable Energy is the energy that comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geothermal heat which are continually replenished. Hybrid power generation model mainly focuses on the renewable energy resources. These sources of energy can meet the world's demand without dismantling the stability of Earth. Hybrid power system model is mainly to meet the increasing energy demand through nonconventional energy sources. In our proposed hybrid model Solar, Wind and Rain water has been planned to use to generate electricity. This configuration allows the three sources to supply the load separately or simultaneously depending on the availability of energy resources. The objectives of the present study are to convert the solar, wind and rain water into electricity and to optimize the energy requirement using these nonconventional energy resources. It reduces the environmental pollution using clean or environmental friendly technology and creates awareness among people regarding renewable energy resources. The study area considered for the present study is Kamala Nehru Girls Hostel in Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University campus which was located in Kukatpally of Hyderabad city, Ranga Reddy District. It is situated in between 17º30´to 17º29´North Latitudes and 78º23´to 78º24Éast Longitudes.
