Leadership has become one of the main concerns of experts in several fields. Given the predominant role it plays in different contexts, many studies have been conducted to unveil the characteristics of this matter and its implications in attempt to determine what elements are needed to achieve successful leadership .The purpose of this paper is to focus on the role of leadership in the organizational context and the styles depended on analyzing different perspectives. Additionally, this paper studies leadership styles in relation to change and put focus on the importance of examining the contextual demands and requirements of change in order to determine what leadership style is needed to manage change.

The paper aims to review the dominating literature and recent findings on leadership phenomenon and its role in organizational change. The studies in sphere of strategic management, organizational theories and social development theories were analyzed to reveal the main features of the leadership. A four-element model for leadership change is proposed, mostly based on the mediating role of transformational leader. The change forces are presented as a combination of transformational leader, the change agents, the change operators and the environment (including endogenous and exogenous factors). As an alternative for competition between transformational leaders and transactional leaders, this paper introduces the network leadership, more beneficial in terms of rapid organizational transformation.

Leadership is one of the most fascinating matters of human being at all times throughout the whole world. Transformational leadership theory is a noticeable representative of the new theories that have occupied focus point in leadership study. The transformational theory of leadership developed by Burns (1978) and Bass (1985) and both are explained it with some models. Transformational leaders work to enhance the motivation and commitment of followers by directing their behavior toward a shared vision. The steady progress in today's business is not achievable without adopting the transformational leadership and accomplish the objectives of enterprise smoothly. The determination of this article is to review and analysis the elements of transformational leadership theory and practice based on existing literature review.

Organizational Change and Leadership

They say that our security can only be found in our ability to adapt and he who rejects change is the designs his nemesis. Corporate culture has undergone radical change, and the need to align business models with these changes has proved a challenge if the right channels of implementation are not used. In the contemporary business environment, challenges have had a new twist due to technological advancements, globalization as well as competition. In such a world, it is not the biggest and most endowed who are capable of thriving but those who will strongly embrace transformation. It is, however, important to remember that people are the stakeholders of change and without the right perceptions, organizational change cannot be effective. Leaders have emerged as vital tools of organizational change implementation. The organizational change stems from leadership which involves the ability of an individual to influence other to follow them. Leaders are diverse, and each of them follows their style and strategy to implement change in an organization. According to Rosén (2014), styles and strategies may vary especially due to the contemporary challenges of the ever-evolving business world. Leaders using the right strategies have managed to fight of organizational resistance to change by convincing people that change is healthy and will guide them to the right direction which will ensure sustainability in the modern business setting. In a bid to stay relevant in the challenging world, leaders have been perceived as important drivers of transformation success (Appelbaum, Pierre & Glavas, 2008). This essay makes an analysis of the role of leadership in organizational change as well as the various leadership styles and strategies that leaders can adopt to overcome the problem of resistance to change.

The General Review of How Different Leadership Styles Cause the Transformational Change Efforts to Be Successful

Organizational change refers to the transformation of an organization from its current state to its desired future state. Organizational change helps to maintain a competitive position as well as the companies’ sustainability in a competitive market. There are different kinds of leadership styles that have strong relationships with the growth of change. This research reviews the different leadership styles, including commanding, supportive, inspirational, logical, transformational, transactional and servant. Different leadership styles take up different kinds of roles and use different actions when implementing organizational change. In conclusion, this research concludes that different changing processes require different leadership styles.

The study of leadership has recently become quite intense and diversified (Northouse, 2001). Thousands of empirical investigations of leaders have been conducted over the last 75 years. Still, no clarity has been reached as to what distinguishes leaders from non-leaders, or effective leaders from ineffective leaders (Bennis & Nanus, 1997). It is intriguing that effective leadership, which is presently described as transformational leadership, has become a sine-qua-non in modern-day organisations (Yukl, 1998) without which the organisation's survival in times of turbulence and change would be almost unthinkable.

This paper aims to explore the role of leadership in organizational change. A leader works as a change agent who can manage organizational process effectively. The changing trends have compelled organizations to constantly review and reevaluate the recent technological advancements and customers' expectations to understand, adopt and implement changes in their business model. Change is today's demand and required to survive. Now days, Organizations better understand the importance of change and prepare themselves to adopt not only the current but also for future trends to get long term success. Different researches show that 70 percent of organizational change fails to acquire their objectives just because of poor leadership style as they play a central role in an organization. So, the process of change demands an effective and highly skilled leadership that are able to perceive the most desirable feature and address the issues in a most appropriate manner. By the analysis of literature and the results of real life case which are considered for this research paper shows, that a leader with its competencies i.e. "Visionary", "democratic" and "transformational" along with "Innovative Approach" can ascertain more effective organizational change with success. As a result, this research proposed a model that obtain from leadership competencies i.e. organizational change, sustainable success and innovation which expresses the relationship between successful organizational change and role of leadership.

TRANSACTIONAL TO TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP – A CONCEPTUAL ANALYSIS

In a globalised world, the role of every employee in an organization does not stagnate only with the idea of becoming a successive leader, but also to instill the organisational culture in them. Leadership is an individual's ability to efficiently direct a group of individuals or workers towards achieving pre-set goals of a given organisation. The characteristics of leaders have to impact the growth of the organisation. Developing the characteristics and skills is what differentiates between a follower and a leader. This paper tracks the impact of " Transformational leadership " on the society. The topic which has made a key impact on the global world post the industrial revolution was the qualities that have to be possessed by an industrial leader and entrepreneur which continues to be a debatable topic till today. Though there are many terms which describe the style of leadership, ranging from autocratic to laissez-faire, transformational leadership is a style in which, both subordinates and the leader, together identify the need for the organisation, set up a goal, and accomplish the same with a number of committed members. This conceptual paper contributes to the understanding of transformation that has taken place in the leadership style over a period of time and the necessary changes that will occur in the future in order to keep pace with the changing world. This study is done to bridge the gap between the skill sets and the characteristics that the traditional leaders possessed and how the influence of leadership has evolved from an era of post and pre-independence and a comparative study between spiritual, motivational and political leaders with business and functional leaders based on their quality traits.

Transformational Leadership and Organizational Change: In The Context of Today’s Leader

Today’s leader deals with many challenges in enacting roles as agents of change. Extremely uncertain and rapidly changing in a dynamic environment become a crucial problem for a leader in mobilizing organizational change. It is imperative for a leader to adopt a strategic approach to drive organizational change effectively for establishing organizational improvement and sustainability. This article reviews transformational leadership as an effective model to drive organizational change in the context of today’s organization leader. Although, there is still controversy about the significant leadership style for establishing changes, the results of previous studies have proven that transformational leadership is a specific approach to achieve the success of organizational change in today's environment.
