This study presents the effects of Corporate Social Responsibility on the livelihood of rural communities in Ghana using Newmont Ghana Gold Limited (NGGL) in Ahafo Kenyasi as a case study. It discusses the livelihood sources, the focus of NGGL’s CSR and the impact assessment of its CSR. The population of this study was the residents of Ahafo Kenyasi and the staff of NGGL in Ahafo Mine Site. A sample size of eighty (80) and twenty (20) respectively were used. Data gathered with the convenience and purposive techniques were analysed quantitatively. The study revealed that even though the siting of the mine in Ahafo Kenyasi has moderately affected some livelihood sources of the people it has also considerable provided alternative livelihood sources for the occupants of the community. It further revealed that the CSR projects or programmes carried out by the mine are based on the actual needs of the community and they are as well sustainable. Some of the recommendations made include that, NGGL should continue and strengthen its strict environmental policies, and the expansion of the coverage of micro credit for economic improvement of Kenyasi community.
