Accounting Practice in Agricultural Enterprises in Turkey
Chinese Business Review, 2017
Agricultural sector is vital for human beings, it provides stuff to the other sectors and it contributes to employment considerably. A large proportion of the exportation of Turkey is made from the agricultural products. Thereby it can be said that the agricultural sector is one of the main sectors contributing to the economy of the country considerably. But it's known that the sector is affected by some risks and uncertainities such as: sector's being made-up of family-owned companies, its being sensitive to the weather conditions, the long process of buying products, the work's being seasonal, self-consumption, the difficulty in accounting the cost, unrecorded agricultural transactions. Within this context to determine the sector's contribution to the country's economy clearly is related to recording the agricultural transactions properly and choosing the realistic methods and implementations. But despite the importance that agricultural transactions carry, the rules of recognition of the related transactions stay at an area that is not much worked on by the operators and researchers till the accounting postulates published. One reason for this is the sector, which is generally made-up of family-owned companies, and the operators have a general view point that accounting is not the purpose of management but taxation. In recent years with the international development of economy and technology, it's seen that big investors have entered the sector. With the changed system of trade, agricultural sector became a strategic sector. In this respect, in-depth data and information, acquired from accounting system, became very important. In this study, the principles and the rules that are applied in the agricultural transactions within the frame of international accounting standards are explained. In which account group should be the biological assets that are agricultured and agricultural products according to their qualities, which accounts are used, and how they are recognitioned are explained. In this context, in the study the examples which are related with the implementation are given over annual plants and prennial plants. The differences between the accounts that are used, are mentioned over by these examples.

Economics of Broiler Production in Amman City , Jordan
IUG Journal of Economics and Business Studies, 2013
The paper examined the profitability of broiler production in Amman city. The study was based on primary data collected from 149 broiler farmers during 2012. The secondary data were obtained from relevant sources including Ministry of Agriculture (MOA), Department of Statistics (DOS). Farm budgeting model was constructed to determine the profitability of broiler production. The results of the study revealed that the total costs in the broiler enterprise in the area of the study were 10.235JD per bird per annum. The total revenues were estimated to be 13.55JD, the gross margin was 3.52JD. These findings indicated that the broiler production enterprise was profitable in Amman area considering the conditions of broiler production in the area of the study. Factors affecting the production of Broiler Enterprise in the area include number of birds, quantity of consumed feed, mortality rate, costs of veterinary service and medicine. Marginal analysis of input showed that the farmers were inefficient in their production practices as indicated by the ratio of marginal value product (MVP) and marginal factor cost (MFC). The ratio revealed the overutilization of factors. The study concluded by indicating the significance of increasing poultry production in the study area in particular.
Economic Analysis of Different Broiler Farm Capacities: A Case Study of Jordan
International Journal of Business and Management, 2013
In agribusiness, broiler farms capacity is considered to be a very important factor in determining the profitability of these farms in developing countries. The main objective of this study was to introduce a comparative analysis of different broiler farm capacities in Jordan to determine the best viable capacity to be adopted. A total of 21, 72, and 7 producers were interviewed representing small, medium, and large farms respectively. A structured questionnaire was designed to obtain information from respondents. The Net Present Value (NPV), the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and the Benefits-Costs ratio (B/C) were the discounted financial indicators used to achieve the goals of the study. The results of the study revealed that all the financial indicators used were economically acceptable in the medium and large size broiler production capacities. The NPV for these two capacities was positive and acceptable (23437 and 55880 JDs respectively). The benefits of these two capacities outweighed the actual costs that went in the project. For small farms, the NPV value was negative indicating non viable type of business compared to the other two capacities. Each money unit invested in small farms will cause a loss of 12.8 units (IRR = -12.8%). On the other hand, each money unit invested in medium and large farms will provide returns higher of about 22% than the costs paid (IRR = almost 22% for both). The payback for these two capacities was 1.06 times the costs meaning that for every unit of cost the project will get 1.06 units of gain. Adoption of medium to large broiler farm capacities in Jordan is recommended by this study.
Production Performance and Economic Appraisal of Broiler Farms in Anand District of Gujarat
Agricultural Economics Research …, 2011
The production performance of different sizes of broiler farms has been studied by collecting data from 60 broiler producers of Anand district during 2005. To examine production performance, the average feed conversion ratio, livability percentage, average body weight and age at marketing have been worked out. Though broiler production is capital-intensive, it has been found profitable. The average cost of production per broiler has been found to be ` 64 and per kilogram live weight of broiler as ` 32. The variable cost and fixed cost constitute 84.5 per cent and 15.5 per cent of total cost, respectively. The major cost components have been found as feed cost (58.6%), chick cost (21.5%) and depreciation on buildings (10.7%). The net profit per broiler as well as per kilogram body weight has been found as ` 7.20 and ` 3.59, respectively for the sample as a whole. The benefit-cost ratio has worked out to be 1.11 for the sample as a whole and it increases with increase in farm-size, indicating that as farm-size increases, the net margin over the rupee invested on broilers also increases. The break-even analysis has revealed that the producers have to maintain minimum of 1531, 2611 and 10437 broilers, respectively on small, medium and large farms to meet the cost incurred in production of broilers.
This article aims to review the literature related to cost accounting in the agricultural firms to find out the reasons that made the accounting researchers pay less attention to study the cost accounting systems in the agricultural firms compared to manufacturing and servicing firms. The cost accounting literature indicated that there are several reasons that led to lack of literature in costing accounting systems in agricultural firms, for instance, the simplicity of production processes in the agricultural firms andthe delay of development in the agricultural activities for long time. However, the changes that occurred in the agricultural business environment such as increased level of competition, increased size of the agricultural firms and production of several products, encouraged decision makers to decrease the production cost to be able to survive. All these factors made the cost information very important for the agricultural firms. Therefore, this study suggested that accounting researchers should focus more on studying the practice of cost accounting systems in the agricultural firms.

The partnership program conducted by broiler farmers using a limited capital is continuously developing due to the beneficial profitability. However, in a certain period, broiler farmers do not gain an expected profit (sometimes suffering loss) as various input and output factors, mortality and land ownership occur. The research, then, aims to comprehend the profitability of the broiler business and analyze determining factors of broiler farmer’s profitability, utilizing the open-house cage system under the partnership program. Technically, the sampling method of the respondent was purposively determined, and the data collecting technique was through interview, observation, and recording on 30 farmers existing in Tomohon, North Sulawesi. In detail, all collected data were economically and descriptively analyzed, and the multiple-regression analysis employed Eviews 11 program. As a result, the finding of this research shows that the value of R/C was 1.12, and variables having positiv...
