Teaching Performance and Job Satisfaction Among Teachers at Region XII

This study aimed to find out the relationship of teaching performance and job satisfaction among teachers of DepEd Region XII. Specifically, it was determined the teaching performance rating of teachers on the seven domains of competency-based performance appraisal system for teachers. It was also determined the satisfaction rating of teachers in ten facets of job satisfaction. The relationship of personal profile and job satisfaction was also correlated. A total of 200 teachers teaching in elementary public schools were selected as respondents of the study and descriptive correlation design was used in order to see relationships of the variables included in the study. Survey questionnaires were distributed to the respondents in twelve sample elementary schools in the Region XII. The study yielded that most of the respondents are female, married, earned a college degree with master's unit, 11 to 15 years in service and belongs to 31-40 years age bracket. Regarding teacher's performance rating it was rated very satisfactorily. Teachers display a high level of performance related skills, abilities, initiatives and productivity, exceeding requirements in many of the areas of teaching performance as indicated in the seven domains of competency-based appraisal system for teachers. Moreover, majority of the teachers are somewhat satisfied on the following facets of job satisfaction: school policies, supervision, interpersonal relations, opportunities for promotion and growth, working conditions, work itself, achievement, recognition, and responsibility. This implies that a teacher satisfied with their job is also productive. Furthermore, if the teachers are contented with their job, they develop and maintain high level of performance. Teaching learning processes are made more efficient and effective and consequently could produce high competitive learners. There is moderate correlation between teacher's performance and job satisfaction which shows that high teacher's performance contributes to high job satisfaction. The age, highest educational attainments and length of service were significant to the job satisfaction while sex and civil status were noted having significant difference to job satisfaction. Based on the findings of the study, it is concluded that the teachers of DedEd Region XII displays a high level of performance related skills, abilities, initiatives and productivity, exceeding requirements in many of the area of teaching performance. Moreover, the teachers of said region were contented with their job satisfaction facets such as school policies, supervision, pay, interpersonal relations, opportunities for promotion and growth, working conditions, work itself, achievement, recognition, and responsibility. This implies that a teacher's satisfied with their job is also a productive one. Furthermore, if the teachers contented with their job, they will develop and maintain high level of performance. Teaching learning process make more efficient and effective that could produce high competitive learners. In addition, teaching performance and job satisfaction have moderate correlation. Based on the findings and conclusions drawn from this study, the researcher makes the following recommendations; first, there should be a balance between the task and people oriented, close supervision and mentoring to the teachers to develop and maintain teaching performance and job satisfaction to bring about efficiency and affectivity in work. Second, the Department of Education should strengthen the pay for the teachers in order for the teachers to gain higher satisfaction on job. They should allocate more budgets on teacher's salaries. Third, the Department of Education should make policy, programs and projects for basic education schools to enhance the teaching performance and job satisfaction of teachers towards quality education. Fourth, to make teaching performance and job satisfaction be directed toward enhancement of academic administration, the school organization should be opened for sharing of ideas to promote academic excellence, teachers should provide opportunities for knowledge and network and teachers should have opportunities to listen to by the school administrators for support.

JOB SATISFACTION OF HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOLS' TEACHERS

Job satisfaction plays an important role towards personal attitude and belief system. These two factors may ultimately cause an individual to strive hard or the opposite may happen, due to this he/she is forced to work below expectation. If one is not satisfied with his days' work so he is forced to lavishly spend his/her time while at days' work. As a consequence, if an individual is not satisfied with the assigned task, this will prop up to dissatisfaction towards other segment of their life. After due investigation it has been revealed that once a man is truly satisfied with his commitment, he is profited by a certain reward. In such a case new destiny is shaped. For this study was done with teachers of higher secondary Hindi and English medium schools and Teacher Job Satisfaction Questionnaire of Pramod Kumar, D.Phil. and D. N. Mutha, Ph.D. were given to randomly selected sample teachers as tool. Finding indicates that there are indications that teacher's level of job satisfaction has a positive relation with success in teaching. The satisfaction of teachers with teaching profession is significantly correlated with teaching success.

A comparative study of job satisfaction in public and private school teachers at secondary level

The present study was conducted to investigate a comparative study of job satisfaction in public and private school teachers. 'Job satisfaction' refers to the attitudes and feelings people have about their work. Positive and favorable attitudes towards the job indicate job satisfaction. Negative and unfavorable attitudes towards the job indicate job dissatisfaction. Researches support that teacher's job satisfaction has been found one of the very important variable related to positive teaching behavior toward their job. There has also been considerable interest in the complex relationship between an individual's job satisfaction and satisfaction with other aspects of his or her life. It was hypothesized that a comparative study of job satisfaction in public and private school teachers. To test this hypothesis the researcher conducted this study to investigate the sense of teacher's job satisfaction. For this purpose the researcher developed a questionnaire of 25 items and 5 options. A sample of 150 public and private school teachers was conveniently selected for the study. Data analysis was conducted through 't-test' and 'ANOVA' Which shoed that there is no significance difference between teacher's job satisfaction in public and private schools.

Job satisfaction of secondary school teachers

Teachers always play a vital role in the development of the society and the nation at large. They are accorded recognition due to their manipulative skills in igniting the inherent talents of the children. The successful running of any educational system depends mainly upon the teacher, the pupil, the curriculum, and the available facilities. Out of these, the teacher is the most important one and is the pivot on whom the entire educational structure rests. Teachers, who are happy with their job, find satisfaction in their lives and hence play a vital role in the process of strengthening the society they belong (Lavingia, 1974). Hence, job satisfaction of teachers is not only important for themselves, but also for the students and as well as the institution and the society they belong. Based on this, a study is conducted by taking a sample of 100 teachers working in different secondary schools of English medium and Telugu medium belonging to Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh were taken to investigate the problem. Job Descriptive Index developed by Hulin, Kendall, and Smith (1969) was used to measure Job Satisfaction. Data were analyzed using mean, S.D, t-test and F-ratio. The results revealed that: 1. there is no significant difference in the job satisfaction of secondary school teachers belonging to various monthly income groups and 2.There is no significant difference in the job satisfaction of secondary school teachers belonging to a different medium of instructions.

Job Satisfactions among Secondary School Teachers : A study in Hooghly District of West Bengal & Lalit Lalitav Mohakud

Job satisfaction among secondary school teachers has been considered as a vital factor for the improvement of the education system and thus it has got an unshakeable place in educational researches. In this study the overall level of job satisfactions of secondary school teacher have been analysed with regard to their stream of teaching, education level, marital status and age. The survey was undertaken in 12 secondary schools using a sample of 140 teachers from Hooghly district which was drawn on the basis of convenient sampling technique. Data were collected by using a six point job satisfaction scale of Job Satisfaction Survey developed by Paul E. Spector (1994) and adopted in Bengali by Mohakud and Parui in 2015. Collected data were analyzed using the statistics-Mean, Standard Deviation (SD) and Percentaget Test and ANOVA were conducts with SPSS programme. Hypotheses were tested at probability level of 0.05. Results of the research revealed that 37.1% teachers are satisfied, 52.9% teachers are on the middle and 10.0% teachers are dissatisfied with their job. No significant differences in the level of job satisfactions were observed among teachers with regard to their education level, marital status and age. Only significant difference was found between arts and science stream secondary school teachers due to their job satisfaction.

JOB SATISFACTION AMONG HIGHER SECONDARY TEACHERS

Job satisfaction is the result of various attitudes, which the employees hold towards their job, towards related factors and towards life in general. Also, the term job satisfaction describes how pleased an employee is with his/her position of employment. There are a variety of factors that could influence an employee's level of job satisfaction; some of these factors include the level of compensation and benefits, the use of equitable promotion systems, the overall working conditions, the style of management and the type of position itself including the tasks involved and the challenges the respective position generates.It refers to general attitude in three areas namely specific job factors, individual adjustment and group relationship outside the job. Likewise, the term has been explained by many psychologists in different ways. In the present study, job satisfaction is defined as a pleasant and positive attitude possessed by a teacher towards his/her job and related factors. The main objective of the present investigation is to study about the job satisfaction of the higher secondary teachers with regard to the background variables namelygender, marital status, age group of the higher secondary teachers, subject handled them, type of school, nature of school and locality of school. Job Satisfaction Inventory developed by Naseema (1993)is used to collect relevant data. The sample consists of 98 higher secondary teachers from 13 higher secondary schools in KumbakonamTaluk, Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu State. The data are analysedby 't' test and ANOVA. The results indicate that there is no significant difference among higher secondary teachers with regard to the background variables namely gender, marital status, age group of the higher secondary teachers, subject handled by them, type of school, nature of school and locality of school.

A study on Job Satisfaction among Secondary school teachers Aizawl District, Mizoram

The study was conducted to find out the level of Job satisfaction among Secondary School Teachers of Aizawl District, Mizoram. Simple random sampling method was adopted by selecting 187 secondary school teachers of Aizawl District as the sample of the study. A standardized questionnaire called Job Satisfaction Scale developed by Dr. Amar Singh & Dr. T.R. Sharma (2012) was used to find out the level of Job satisfaction. It was found that secondary school teacher of Aizawl District have low level Job satisfaction. Analysis were also done by testing the hypothesis to find out the significant differences in their Job satisfaction level with reference to their gender, marital status, subjects and academic qualification. Significant differences in their level of Job satisfaction were found between unmarried and married teachers as well as between under graduate and post graduate teachers.

Job Satisfaction of Teachers

Growth of a nation lay in the hands of great leaders. Effective and efficient leaders are shaped only from the well functioning of educational institutions. Thus, effectual functioning of any educational institutions depends on professional commitment of teachers. Commitment of teachers depends upon their job satisfaction. Hence, in this article an attempt has been made to identify the factors that increase job satisfaction of teachers. The present study has been carried out among private higher secondary school teachers at Coimbatore district. The result of study discloses that job satisfaction of teachers depends on Salary, Working time, Professional growth etc.

JOB SATISFACTION: COMPARATIVE STUDY OF TEACHING JOB SATISFACTION IN DEHRADUN

The study investigates job satisfaction in teachers working in Dehradun. Using data from self report inventory, the researcher used descriptive method involving measurement, evaluation, comparison, and interpretation. Total 720 teachers from private and government schools were assessed. While selecting samples, equal numbers of male and female teachers are selected from equal number of private and government schools. Dixit's Job satisfaction scale was used to study the job satisfaction level. Mean, standard deviation and t-test were applied for statistical analysis of data and to find out significant difference. The result indicated that the level of job satisfaction in teachers was found more toward average. 50.56% female teachers were above the average category of job satisfaction as compared with 41.11 % male teachers. 58.89 % male teachers working in government schools were well satisfied as compared with 23.33 % in private schools. 58.89 % female teachers working in government schools were well satisfied as compared with 42.22 % working in private schools. Among private and government schools, female teachers were more satisfied as compared with male teachers. Teachers working in private schools faced low level of job satisfaction as compound with those working in government schools. In private schools, male teachers were less satisfied as compared with female teachers. While there was no significant difference in the job satisfaction of male and female teachers working in government schools. These results will provide guidance for teachers and administrators to improve teaching job satisfaction.

Teachers' job satisfaction

The purpose of this study was to ascertain the extent of job satisfaction of teachers in private and public basic schools in the Ketu South District. The study was guided by four research questions all of which sought to find out teachers’ level of job satisfaction and issues related to their job satisfaction. The literature reviewed acknowledged job satisfaction as one part of the motivational process. While motivation is primarily concerned with goal-directed behaviour, job satisfaction refers to the fulfilment acquired by experiencing various job activities and rewards. Descriptive survey design was the design employed for the study. There was a total population of 98 schools and 2180 teachers, out of which 150 teachers from 10 schools were used as the sample for the study. A questionnaire was used to gather information from respondents. The gathered data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) computer software and organized in frequency distribution tables according to the demands of the research questions. The study showed that most teachers were dissatisfied and would not encourage pupils to become teachers in future. This is due to the fact that they believe that there is no prestige in the job and the teaching profession is not lucrative. There was no vast difference between the level of job satisfaction in the private schools and in the public schools. The study therefore recommends that there should be enhanced salaries to help boost the morale of the teachers.
