Anti–Phospholipase A2 Receptor Antibodies and Malignancy in Membranous Nephropathy (original) (raw)

This research letter investigates the correlation between anti-Phospholipase A2 receptor antibodies and malignancy in patients with membranous nephropathy (MN). A retrospective study of 91 patients demonstrated that the presence of these antibodies may indicate a lower likelihood of malignancy association in newly diagnosed idiopathic MN, while their absence suggests a small but notable risk of malignancy. The findings highlight the importance of anti-PLA2R testing in the differential diagnosis and subsequent management of MN.
