Moral judgment and emotions (original) (raw)
This paper explores the relationship between moral judgment and emotions, addressing the challenges faced by cognitivists and noncognitivists regarding moral motivation and discourse. It proposes a reconciliatory approach that allows for the integration of affective attitudes in moral judgments without necessitating motivational internalism, thereby supporting a cognitivist framework. The analysis highlights the significance of moral assertions in expressing both a proposition and an endorsement of moral standards, ultimately suggesting that moral judgments possess a motivational pull through their cognitive nature.
