Today is the era of information technology, collect the information and use it for required application with technology support. Sensor nodes operating remotely are the popular approach for today's researcher for collecting real time information. But, facing difficulty due to constraints of energy resource for long life monitoring. So there is high need to have energy efficient communication scheme for the betterment of sensor network communication. Clustering protocol is the best option in designing routing protocol for Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). Though we have option of heterogeneity, Clustering approach enhances the energy efficiency of WSN by systematically sharing the load and hence prolongs the lifetime of the network. Most of the researchers achieve energy efficient approach in WSN, by adding different level high energy nodes and use clustering approach to prolong the lifetime of WSN. There are lots of efforts put in reality by researchers for the development of energy efficient schemes with WSN. This paper explored the contribution of different clustering scheme reported in published literature in the three sections as Clustering algorithm basic and its different attributes, suggested Cluster head selection criteria, literature survey and the identified gaps found in published material. The main aim of this paper is to present basic considered in designing clustering algorithm and metrics available for validation.

Wireless sensor networks are composed of low cost and extremely power constrained sensor nodes which are scattered over a region forming self organized networks, making energy consumption a crucial design issue. Thus, finite network lifetime is widely regarded as a fundamental performance bottleneck. These networks are used for various applications such as field monitoring, home automation, medical data collection or surveillance. Research has shown that clustering sensor nodes is an efficient method to manage energy consumption for prolonging the network lifetime. Presence of heterogeneity enhances the lifetime and reliability in network. In this paper, we present the distributed and energy efficient clustering protocols which follow the thoughts of Distributed Energy Efficient Clustering protocol. Objective of our work is to analyze that how these extended routing protocols work in order to optimize network lifetime and how routing protocols are improved. We emphasizes on issues e...

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is infrastructure less. Sensors usually rely on their battery for power, which cannot be recharge or replaced. So in this paper, comparisons of energy performance on different position of base station are analyzed and also analyzed LEACH and it's up gradation. Cluster-based routing mechanism use message success rate to guarantee reliability for network. In this mechanism cluster head selection algorithm based on node connectivity and splitting and merging of cluster are performed. A REVIEW ON ENERGY EFFICIENT CLUSTERING ROUTING PROTOCOL IN WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORK
Wireless Sensor Network depends on nodes have limited energy, memory, computational power, range and it is important to increase energy efficiency by saving the battery power so as to extend the life time of the given WSN deployment. In WSN, data is measured by nodes and same is send to Base Station at regular interval. Different protocols are used for energy consumption, in wireless sensor network. In this paper for energy consumption in wireless sensor network we study about LEACH protocol, EEUC protocol and zone-divided and energy-balanced clustering routing protocol (ZECR) which divides the area into several zones according to the distance and uses the clustering method among these zones. The key idea of these protocols is that within a cluster there is a -cluster-head‖ which receive the data from remaining nodes and such data is sent to base station.
Comparison of Energy Efficient Clustering Protocols in Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks
Wireless sensor networks are an emerging technology for monitoring physical world. The energy constraint of Wireless sensor networks makes energy saving and Prolonging the network lifetime become the most important goals of various routing protocols. Clustering is a key technique used to extend the lifetime of a sensor network by reducing energy consumption. Also Putting few heterogeneous nodes in wireless sensor network is an effective way to increase the network lifetime and stability. The energy saving schemes for homogeneous wireless sensor networks do not perform efficiently when applied to heterogeneous wireless sensor networks. Thus, Energy efficient clustering protocols should be designed for the characteristic of heterogeneous wireless sensor networks. This paper surveys different energy efficient clustering protocols for heterogeneous wireless sensor networks and compares these protocols on various points like, location awareness, clustering method, heterogeneity level and clustering Attributes.

Improved Clustering Protocol to Balanced Energy Consumption in Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Network
Universal Journal of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2019
Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) Scheme is a cost-effective approach to monitor the event remotely. However, the activity of WSN is totally dependent on the energy resource available with each and every node of the network. Thus to prolong the activity period of WSN, it is necessary to utilize the available energy systematically. This aim is well satisfied by the design of hierarchical clustering protocol. This article highlights the mechanism to balance the energy consumption (load balancing) inside WSN. Proposed protocol design follows energy aware heterogeneous network model and modified scheme of cluster head (CH) selection. Secondly, maintain the record for nodes utilized in the role of CH and its capability. Proposed approach explores energy utilization by rotating CH selection, and reduces the internal overheads in network management. Through this approach, we are able to improve the energy efficiency of WSN by clustering multilevel nodes. In this design, CH is selected based on node energy and relative distance attributes. Proposed protocol is simulated and validated with reference to energy based performance parameters. It's been noted that proposed implementation outperforms the existing protocols in terms of stability period, residual energy, and lifetime of the network.
