Global trends in agriculture and food systems (original) (raw)
This paper discusses the impact of increasing globalisation on agricultural production, trade, and sustainability, particularly viewing these changes through the lens of both conventional and organic agricultural practices. While globalisation has led to increased food security and diverse diets in industrialised and some developing countries, it has also resulted in growing disparities in agricultural productivity, particularly in regions such as Africa. The trends and challenges in global organic agriculture are highlighted, emphasizing the need for sustainable development that integrates environmental, socio-economic, and agricultural factors.
