The issue of gas flaring is one the major issues plaguing many countries of the world. It is a problem resulting from the industrial sector of many countries. The effect of this industrial activity cannot be overestimated. It has resulted in a diversity of notable problems in the areas where it is predominant. This problem has been termed an economic and environmental monstrosity. It is notably one of the major causes of environmental and air pollution. Aside this, it has proven to be of economic detriments as it has been believed and as I would be outlining in this work, that alternative methods can be utilized which would not be of so much negative effects as obtained sin the rising cases of gas flaring in the world. These gases flared can actually be converted. The main focus of this work would be a brief but however, a far reaching comparative examination of the issue of gas flaring, with Nigeria as the focus. It is a clear and observable fact that gas flaring is of the rise in Nigeria and the problem is that nothing or sufficient and efficient measures and mechanisms have not been put in place to check this very unethical act of gas flaring which as a stated is a monstrous act which has proven to be of, environmental, economic and health danger to man. The effects of gas flaring shall be outlined and a number of alternative and protective measures shall be recommended.
