Vocabulary is an important element of any language since its roles affect on language performance of the users. The present study investigates the correlation between students' vocabulary and their speaking skills at the secondgrade students of MTs Mursyidatul Jannah Pandeglang. A descriptive quantitative method was employed in the study. The participants of the study are the second-grade students which consist of thirty students. vocabulary test and speaking test were administered to attain the data of students' vocabulary mastery and their speaking skills. Having collected the data, the writer usedthe Pearson Product Moment Correlation in analyzing the data. Based on the data analysis, the study reveals that there is good correlation between the students' vocabulary mastery and their speaking skills. Further, the result of hypothesis testing shows that there is a positive correlation between the students' vocabulary mastery and students' speaking skills. The means score of the students' vocabulary mastery is 6,5 and theirspeaking skillsis 6,7. The r-value is 0,54 while the r-table is 0,46ata significance level of 1%. From the results decides that r-obtained (0,54) is higher than r-table (0.46). It meant the r-value is significant.

The Correlation Between Students' Vocabulary Achievement and Fluency in Speaking English

The objective of the study was to find out the correlation between students' vocabulary achievement and fluency in speaking English. The population was the second grade student of SMK Negeri Binaan PEMPROVSU. The population were 5 class consist 121 students. This study took a class TKJ and TKR as a sample by using Cluster Random Sampling. In gathering data, used a match test to measure vocabulary mastery and oral test to measure fluency in speaking English. In analyzing data, this study used Pearson Product Moment Formula. After analyzing, it was found r-calculated 0,873. It means that r-calculated was higher than rtable. So the relationship between two variables above were significant. Conclusion is there was a correlation between the students' vocabulary achievement and fluency in speaking English. Researcher compared the rcalculated with r table (0,873 > 0,304) if r-calculated is bigger than r-table, the correlation is significant. And percentage if correlation between students' vocabulary achievement and fluency in speaking English was 76,22%. It means that the students' vocabulary achievement will support fluency in speaking English.

This research, entitled “Correlation Between Vocabulary Mastery and Fluency in Speaking” was carried out to the fifth semester students of English Education Study Program. The population of this research is fifth semester students of English Education Study Program of Teacher Training and Education Faculty at Tanjungpura University with the sample size of 30. The result of data analysis revealed the correlational between both variable from the samples is showing the correlational coefficient (r) value of 0.19. This value showed vocabulary mastery has low correlation with fluency in speaking. The contribution of vocabulary mastery to fluency in speaking is 3.6% which is almost non-existent. The hypothesis was tested by comparing the r value with r table, with the degree of freedom (df = n-2) of 28 and 1% level of significance. The r value (0.19) is lower than r table (0.463). One of the purpose of teaching speaking is the students are able to use English as a means of communication based on the context and situation related to their level of vocabulary mastery. So before we are able to communicate well, we should have a large number of words.The objective of this research is to find out whether vocabulary is influential toward English speaking ability. The populations of this research are 190 students of all the fourth semester in the academic year of 2009-2010. Based on the table of Krecjie, a number of samples are 127 students. The sampling technique used is the simple random sampling technique. This research aimed to find out the correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and speaking ability at grade 8 of SMP Negeri 26 Padang. This research was quantitative research which used correlational technique design. The sample of the research was 30 students of grade eight selected by clustering sampling. The instruments used in the research were vocabulary test and speaking test. Vocabulary test consisted of 50 questions of multiple choices, and speaking test in the form of role play. The research data were in the form of interpretation of students’ vocabulary and speaking test results, and their correlation. Based on data analysis, it was found that students’ vocabulary mastery and speaking ability were fair. They were proved by the mean score 65 for vocabulary mastery and 68 for speaking ability. Moreover, there was strong correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and speaking ability. It was shown by the rvalue = 0,703.

In an increasingly advanced globalization era where the ability to speak English is a must in keeping up with the times. An analysis of the correlation between vocabulary mastery and students' speaking skills in English is needed. This is because vocabulary mastery is the main point for students to have good speaking skills. This study aims to determine the relationship between vocabulary mastery and speaking skills. This research uses a quantitative approach with a correlation study type. The sample in this study was 52 respondents in the second semester of the Department of English Education, the University of Nurul Jadid using the purposive sampling technique. When students learn English, they learn four skills such as listening, speaking, reading and writing, but reading skill has a higher proportion than other skills. Johnson (2008:16) states that reading is the practice of using text to create meaning. Moreover, the students have to master vocabulary to understand the content of the text. Because according to McCharty (2010: 1) vocabulary is basic component in leaning foreign language. In fact, some students in the Junior High School felt confused when they read English text because they lack of vocabulary. In addition, the writer used some theories from experts as the references. About vocabulary is from Hiebert and Kamil, McCarty and Johnson. About reading is from Brown, Morellion and Johnson. Moreover, this research were aimed to find out the students' vocabulary mastery, the students' reading achievement and to find out whether there is a correlation between students' vocabulary mastery and their reading achievement. The population of this research was all of the students at the eighth grade of SMP N 15 Cirebon. Meanwhile, the writer used one class (VIIIG) which consists of 35 students as the sample and used achievement test as the instrument to collect the data. The result of this research showed that the students' vocabulary mastery and their reading achievement is good. In addition, the correlation value (r xy ) was 0.669 while r table was 0.344. Therefore (r xy ) counted was lower than r table , it means that there is a correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading achievement.

This research focused about the correlation between vocabulary and writing descriptive text mastery at the grade VIII students of MTs Al-ansor Padangsidimpuan. some of the students get difficulties in expressing their ideas, they don"t know the structure in sentences, they still have poor vocabularies and grammar, and most of the students did not like English lesson because its difficult for them. This research has three formulation of the problem, they are: 1) how is the students, vocabulary of the VIII grade students of MTs Al-ansor Padangsidimpuan?. 2) how is the students, writing descriptive text of the VIII grade students of MTs Al-ansor Padangsidimpuan?. 3) is there a significant correlation between vocabulary and writing descriptive text mastery of the grade VIII students of MTs Al-ansor Padangsidimpuan?, the purposes of this research are to know the students" vocabulary of the eight grade students of MTs Al-Ansor Padangsidimpuan, to know the students" writing descriptive text mastery of the eight grade students of Mts Al-Ansor Padangsidmpuan, to find out if there is a significant correlation between students" vocabulary and writing descriptive text mastery of the eight grade students of MTs Al-Ansor Padangsidimpuan. The type of research in this study is study quantitative. The population of this research was the grade VIII students of MTs Al-ansor Padangsidimpuan in academic years 2019/2020. Further, the sample of the research included 24 students. In collecting the data, the researcher used two tests they are vocabulary test with the form multiple choice and test of writing descriptive text with the form essay test. To know the correlation both of them used product moment correlation After analyzing the data, the researcher found that mean score of vocabulary was 73.12 and mean score of writing descriptive text 71.41. The value of r xy = 0.898 and r table = 0.423 with the significat value 5%. The t count was 10.27 with t table = 2.074 or t count > t table. It meant there is a significant correlation between vocabulary and writing descriptive text mastery of the grade VIII students of MTs Al-ansor Padangsidimpuan.

This research is aimed to find out the correlation between English vocabulary mastery and their writing ability in descriptive text. The number of population is 26 students of seventh grade students of SMP Islam Sudirman 1 Bancak, Semarang District. The instruments of the collecting the data uses test and documentation. Tests consist of objective test and subjective test. The documentation used to collect about data of SMP Islam Sudirman 1 Bancak, Semarang District. The collected data was analyzed by using two ways: the technique used to classify the students into three criteria and the technique used to analyze the data by using Pearson Product Moment correlation.
