Crisis Perception, Experience, and Preparedness among Managers in Ghana

Research about organizations and possible crisis events that may affect their operations or have negative consequences is wide-ranging. Recommendations include establishing crisis management plans and developing alternatives to deal with potential disasters. Most of the crisis management literature focuses on large businesses in developed countries. This study surveys the perceptions, preparedness, and involvement concerning crisis occurrences among managers in Ghana, an emerging nation. Initial findings suggest indigenous Ghanaian managers recognize the need for crisis preparation, but at the same time, may not invest the time, energy, and resources that are needed to be prepared. This study shows that Ghanaian firms with foreign ownership or control have in place crisis management policies typically found within large international businesses. Crisis management: Planning for the inevitable

The aim of this study is to identify important factors influencing organizational readiness to deal with the crisis in business organizations. The study designs a questionnaire in Likert scale and distributes it among some experts who work for Mapna company in Iran. The study uses the method developed by Mitroff (2005) [Mitroff, I. I. (2005). Why some companies emerge stronger and better from a crisis: 7 essential lessons for surviving disaster. AMACOM Div American Mgmt Assn.], which investigates the effects of four factors including job satisfaction, increase in income, cost reduction and change in strategies on crisis management. Using Pearson correlation ratio, the study has confirmed a positive and meaningful relationship between crisis management and three factors including increase in income, cost reduction and change in strategies. However, the study did not find any evidence to support the relationship between job satisfaction and crisis management.

Prepared for a crisis? Basic elements of crisis management in an organisation

The aim of this paper is to identify the basic elements that must be taken into account when constituting the complete process of crisis management in an organisation. This study explains the following: the identification of the basic elements; the sequence of the basic elements' relationships in the creation of crisis management; the reason for their importance in this process; terms; and the person/team responsible for their determination. The identification of the elements is based on a mind map. The logic progress of each action is presented in the network. Detailed graphical and tabular representations of the verbal accompaniment have been used to highlight the diversity of the activities and skills required when creating crisis management in an organisation. Thus, the elements presented and their relationships are a tool for managers. Their practical usefulness has been confirmed in several applications in different organisations.

Study of Organizational Crisis Preparedness in Nepal

The research involves studying the trend of Nepalese organizations practicing crisis management. The recurrence of various types of crisis in different organizations of Nepal indicate that many organizations in Nepal do not practice proper crisis management, due to which they have had to bear devastating consequences and are yet vulnerable to many in coming days. To lessen the impacts of both natural and man-made crisis, organizations need to prepare themselves in order to practice crisis management in order to survive the crisis effectively and efficiently. The primary data in this study was gathered by distributing questionnaires to 55 participants who were selected from a simple random sampling procedure.The results obtained from the study indicate that, many of the participants are ill prepared which lead to inappropriate practice of crisis management, and they are facing consequences like; drop in revenue, cutbacks, dilution of their reputation and others.However, most of the organizations do have some amount of fire extinguishers and emergency exit in the building that have been instilled not because of awarenesstowards likely crisis but because doing so is a part of general trend and practice. From this study we can conclude that the organizations in Nepal are very far from making crisis crisis management their priority. Although, no organizations can prepare themselves for all types of crisis in the world, but practicing crisis management definitely will help the organizations to combat common recurring and possible crises their organizations can face depending on the kind of organization.

Crisis management to ensure effective and continuous performance

An organization’s effectiveness is directly affected by its crisis management process. The relevance for an organization to possess an efficient crisis management process cannot be over-emphasized, since it determines the continuous survival of the organization and prevents an immediate closure of its work process. Its importance lies on the identification of the likely causes of crisis whether from the internal or external environment and also the establishment of an effective crisis management process that would assist organization in the management of crisis. The article aims to share information on the various causes of crisis, techniques in crisis management, and the relationship between crisis management and organizational performance. Defining what a crisis is and thinking a couple of its types and also the crisis management and the importance of the crisis communications the authors also want to signal the present needs for a more accurate consideration of the crisis management and its usage and also bending the decisions in order to minimize the psychological effects of the crisis and maximizing the positive effects of the decisions.

A Review of Crisis Management Strategy and its Influences on the Organizational Performance

Crisis Management is the choosing of an organized process, that is reasonably cost effective, in order to lessen certain threats facing the organization or company. It is a process coupled with the principle of sustainability. It is a measuring process, and one used to evaluate threats, and develop a strategy to manage it. These strategies include moving the threats elsewhere, avoiding them, and decreasing their negative impact, and accepting some or all of its effects. It indicates two options one which can occur. Undoubtedly the cases whereby there is only one chance are the cases where there are no threats. They are occurrences and events threaten the realization of goals, and could have a negative impact on the continuation of the work, thus making the crisis management a real art undertaken with competence, professionalism and experience. Threats are the chance that a company could face unexpected and unplanned losses, or could make the anticipated revenues fluctuate.

The Role of Training and Development of Employees in Crisis Management in Nigerian Business Organizations

Crisis management requires a skilled, knowledgeable workforce with employees' who are adaptive, flexible, and focused on the future. The paper concentrates on training and development of employees as an effective weapon to control crisis in Nigerian business organizations. The survey research design was used for the study. The sample for the study comprised fifty (50) employers of labour and one hundred and fifty (150) employees. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire. Two research questions were posited for this study. Two hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance.
