Teachers' and students’ perceptions on introducing the SAMR model into their classroom

Revista Arbitrada Interdisciplinaria Koinonía

This article focuses on understanding the perceptions of 31 Ecuadorian teachers and 34 Ecuadorian university students about the Puentedura Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition (SAMR) model in the English class. It has helped teachers integrate technology into their classes. The tool used to evaluate the model consisted of 20 items with 5 questions for each SAMR dimension. The reliability of the model was measured with McDonald's ω (0.94) in a general context and each dimension (S: (ω=0.88), A: (ω=0.82), M: (ω=0.85) R: ω=0.87)). The results on the perceptions of teachers and students were very enlightening to understand how they implement technology in English classrooms before and after the pandemic. They consider the use of technological tools to be beneficial for learning English as a foreign language.

THE USE OF TECHNOLOGY TO ENHANCE READING AND LISTENING SKILLS FOR STUDENTS WITH SPLDS.

International Journal of Advanced Research (IJAR), 2018

Educators have always held the kewy to students?success, they always search for useful strategies to teach effectively in order to encourage the independence of learning for students with specific learning difficulties but also for those with normal intelligence. Information technology as a field of education has opened new channels and opportunities to enhance teaching and educational methods. Multimedia Technology has offered us the use of CDs, DVDs or videos applied in the classroom however multimedia can offer the use of more than one medium of expression or communication such as text, audio, images, animations, video and interactive content and also an independent, individual, pair and group work. In this way, while using it students create an active and effective learning process while measuring and developing their critical reading and listening skills in an independent and creative way. This paper aims to explain how technology can help students read single words, read reports and books, it helpsthose who have difficulties with written work, those that it takes longer to do a written work, uses poor spelling, those who have difficulties in reading their own writing and at the same time it encourages the listening and also improves listening skills. These way the use of technology, prepares students with SpLDs make a better decision about their education and create a Metacognition approach and they are able to take control of their thinking and learning activities and become effective learners knowing that multimedia can improve critical thinking starting from the multimedia material where you can see and read what you listen and this can integrate students with SpLDs move forward.

The role of technology in teaching listening

2011

Listening is the language modality that is used most frequently. It has been estimated that adults spend almost half their communication time listening, and students may receive as much as 90% of their in-school information through listening to instructors and to one another. Often, however, language learners do not recognize the level of effort that goes into developing listening ability. Far from passively receiving and recording aural input, listeners actively involve themselves in the interpretation of what they hear, bringing their own background knowledge and linguistic knowledge to bear on the information contained in the aural text. Not all listening is the same; casual greetings, for example, require a different sort of listening capability than do academic lectures. Language learning requires intentional listening that employs strategies for identifying sounds and making meaning from them. Listening involves a sender (a person, radio, television), a message, and a receiver...

The Impact of Integrating Technology in Teaching Listening Skill

QALAAI ZANISTSCIENTIFIC JOURNAL, 2020

The current study attempts to examine the effectiveness of embedding technology, as an essential topic for educators around the world, with teaching listening skill in the secondary phase for Kurdish students as a solution to motivate the teachers and students to focus on this skill. The traditional in-class vs. the technology-based learning using approach is compared in an attempt to show how innovative approaches are fruitful. For this purpose, the researcher carried out a quasi-experimental study. Thus, a pre-test post-test research design is utilized, and the sample was taken from Mamun Dabakh preparatory public school for girls in Erbil city. The experiment lasted for eight weeks, and 40 students of the grade 10th were divided into two groups, namely the experimental and the control group. The experimental group is taught by using technology, while the control group was taught traditionally which isreading aloud by the teacher in order to find out the practical techniques and strategies used by teachers in teaching listening skill via technology.

A. Introduction Technology is very important in teaching process. One of the most frequently cited reasons for justifying the need for change in education, or at least for labeling education as old-fashioned, is the enormous technological revolution our world has undergone in recent years. Nowadays, we have the Internet in our pocket, in the form of a smartphone, which has exponentially more computing power than the Apollo Guidance Computer that put the first men on the moon. A school with desks, blackboards or whiteboards, and perish the thought books seems like some kind of archaic institution, one that, even if it does use a smartboard or a learning platform, operates in a manner that bears a suspiciously strong resemblance to the way things were done in the past. In education, we often have the feeling that we are finding it harder and harder to reach our students. That is why we are so feverishly interested in smartboards or learning platforms or anything new on the market that might help. Every new tool seems like a possible solution, although sometimes we really don't know what the problem is or even if there is one. Technological innovations break the boundaries in learning languages, either from making independent learning more efficient, adding value to the time spent in class, or by giving wider exposure to language education so that it can be accessed by more people. By bringing overall services closer to the place and time of demand, technology plays an important role in supporting learning success. The most basic and proven application of educational technology provides and solves problems provided for learning. Based on the renewal of educational technology, this problem solving consists of learning resources. These resources, both deliberately designed and selected, are then used as concrete products that are available to assist with learning. This product is the clearest proof of the application of educational technology.Applications that can be launched: (1) tutorials, key lessons provided, (2) exercises and repetition to help learners develop fluency in previously learned material, (3) games and simulations to help use newly learned help; and (5) and data sources that allow expenditures to access data
