Postmodernism is a literary movement which emerged as a reaction to modernism movement and has begun to show its effect on western literature after 1950s and in Turkish literature since 1980s. Being effective in many areas, such as thought, art, economics, cinematography, architecture, this movement has also influenced Murathan Mungan like many authors in this period of Turkish literature. It is seen that Murathan Mungan, who has begun to write since 1980s and contributed to Turkish literature in the various disciplines such as poetry, novel, story, essay, memoir, biography, criticism, play, film scenario, has written his short stories and novels under the influence of postmodernism literature and elements of it. In spite of many studies on Murathan Mungan, the postmodern elements and educational values in author’s fiction works have not been examined in details. In present study, postmodernism movement, which has shaped the author’s short stories and novels, the postmodern elements in his works and educational values are studied by content analysis method. As it is a work-centered study, which is grounded on postmodern perspective, determination of the main and subtitles in this study has been based on the data which are obtained from novels and short stories. In this study, the aim is to understand what kind of values are attempted to be transferred and imposed to the society through author’s literary works via examining postmodern elements and educational values in Murathan Mungan’s works.
