Mastering vocabulary is essential part in linguistic. Forall skillsin language vocabulary is needed. In reading, vocabulary cannot be separated. To comprehend the text, the reader should master vocabulary. In the syllabus of KTSP-2006there were competence standard, basic competence, indicator and MCC that should be achieved by the students in mastering vocabulary. But the students could not achieve because there were some problems that influence the students' ability in mastering vocabulary.
