2017, ‘ANANKE numero speciale GeoRes novembre"
Built in the years between 1915 and 1918, and located on the west bank of the “Varano” Lake , the “Ivo Monti” base, during the WWI, was turned, from a simple airport, into a strategic military base for floatplanes. After the WWI, the seaplanes became an outdated technology and so the “Ivo Monti” base was progressively dismantled and then totally abandoned at the beginning of the 1950s. The present research has produced, in a first phase, the complete survey of the area and of the buildings present, while it is still underway, the study of the constructive techniques, materials and decay phenomena that are present.
