Labour, Gender and Political Conflicts in the Global Agri-food System. The Case of Agri-export Model of Murcia, Spain (original) (raw)
The paper explores the implications of labour relations within the agricultural export sector in the Region of Murcia, Spain, particularly in light of neo-liberal globalization and the ongoing economic crisis. It highlights how domestic devaluation strategies, which prioritize exports and involve wage suppression, contribute to vulnerable workforces segmented by gender and race. The study questions the sustainability of the export-led economic model as a solution for overcoming socio-economic challenges in southern Europe.
