This study investigates the need for cognition and trait emotional intelligence of higher secondary students and their relationship to academic achievement. This study also examined the effect of some demographic variables like gender, locale, medium of instruction, order of birth of students on the chosen variables. The study employed a survey method for data collection. The sample comprised 313 (150 boys and 163 girls) higher secondary school students. The Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-short form (TEIQue–SF; Petrides, 2009) and Need for Cognition Scale (Cacioppo et al., 1984) were used for the study. The results revealed that boys and girls are similar in their need for cognition and trait emotional intelligence. Also, girls outperformed boys academically. Emotional Intelligence and its Impacts on Academic Achievement of General Degree College Students

Emotional Intelligence is a significant characteristic of any human being which can play a role to improve the academic achievement among students of general degree colleges in North 24 Parganas and Howrah district of West Bengal. The aim of the was to identify the male & female relations respect to emotional intelligence, rural & urban relations respect to emotional intelligence and relationship between emotional intelligence and its impacts on academic achievement. The present study was Normative Survey research. For collect the data researcher used Emotional Intelligence Scale (EIS) was developed by Shailendra Singh (2004) edited and modified by Roy & Mahato, 2023 from 100 general degree college students West Bengal (North 24 Parganas & Howrah). The 100 sample distributed as 53 male and 47 female, who had been selected purposely. The researcher used Mean & Standard Deviation (S.D.) as Descriptive Statistics, Scatterplot, Pearson’s Product-Moment Correlation (r) and Independent ‘t’-test as Inferential Statistics applied to analyze the data. The result showed that, there is significant difference between college students male & female, there is a significant difference between college students in rural & urban areas and the emotional intelligence as independent variables is negatively correlated with academic achievement, which mean EI is not significantly related to academic achievement.

Many times it has been observed that, people with high I.Q. often failed to cope-up with the circumstances which had triggered the need of something else called “Emotional Intelligence” Success not just depends on I.Q. (intelligence quotient) but also on E.Q. (emotional quotient) E.Q. is the ability to understand nature and felling of others as well as own. Research has suggested that to be successful in life E.Q. is equal or even more important than I.Q. The study intended to identify E.Q. of students across Valsad District. The data was collected during Dec.12/Jan.13. For examination “Emotional Intelligence Test” developed by Dr. N.K. Chadha (1998) was applied. Data were analyzed by T-test in the emotional intelligence of male and female student. The result revealed that there is no significant difference in emotional intelligence of male and female category of students of Valsad District. (Rural)
An Exploration of Emotional Intelligence Level of Students

This study is conducted to find the different components of Emotional intelligence of the students of different department in University, Dharwad. Factor analysis was performed to determine the various factors affecting the intelligence of the students. The samples were collected through questionnaire. Fifteen observations were identified from the present literature and have been put to test to arrive at four different factors. The study satisfied sampling adequacy through KMO and Bartlett’s and concludes by categorising the homogeneous observations into the factors namely Self-awareness, self-control, self-regulation and Empathy.
The Impact of Emotional Intelligence on Student’s Academic Performance

Emotional intelligence combines the important aspects of interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships, adaptability, moods and stress management skills, which have an effect on students' academic performance. Thus, this study was carried out with the aim of examining the impact of emotional intelligence on students' academic performance of information technology and business management students. The independent variable includes self-awareness, self-motivation, empathy, emotional management and interpersonal skills while the depended variable is academic performance. This research adopted descriptive and explanatory research design. It also employ the use of cross sectional survey method using a survey questionnaires that contains 40 items with Likert Scale (Disagree-1 and 5 for Agree). The sample of 123 students from FTMS College, Cyberjaya and Erican College were selected using convenient sampling. The data collected was analyzed using descriptive means and regression via SPSS19. The Pearson's correlation coefficients of the five dependent variables have significant positive correlation with students' academic performance. However, using the regress analysis only two variable were significant and they include; empathy and self-motivation. Academic Achievement of senior Secondary School Students in relation to their emotional intelligence
In the modern world of 21st century where nations face internal as well as external challenges. Education is the most effective instrument to meet these challenges. The objectives of the paper are to study the Relationship between Academic Achievement and Emotional Intelligence among boys and girls, studying in Government and Government Aided Senior Secondary Schools of jind city. The conclusion of the study shows that there is a significant difference in boys and girls groups. Boys are more emotionally intelligent than Girls and therefore achieve better in academics then girls. To raise the confidence in girls, they should be guided by the teacher. They should make aware of their potentialities and try to develop them up to the maximum.

This paper highlights the perceived Emotional Intelligence of 520 college students of Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, Vellore Dist., TN and it has been tested for its association and differences by their course of education, domicile, gender, parents' occupation and socio-economic status. It was found that the majority of the students lack in Emotional Intelligence, there are significant differences found in the Emotional Intelligence by the course of education, gender, academic achievement and socio-economic status. This paper will be an eye opener for the educational institutions, parents and teachers to create sufficient space and exposure for the students to be Emotionally Intelligent.

The objective of the study is to find the level of Emotional Intelligence of the students; to find the difference in EI levels of students with respect to their demographic like: gender, age and residential area and relation of Emotional Intelligence (EI) of students with their academic achievement. Data of 100 students from MDU, rohtak was collected randomly using EI tool developed by Prof. Roquiya Zainuddin and Dr. Anjum Ahmed and then analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and Karl pearson's correlation. In analysis, a negative and insignificant relationship is found between EI and Academic achievements. Majority of the students are having average level of EI and EI has no significant relation with age, Gender or residential area.
