Quality of Life and Its Relevant Factors in Menopausal Women
Journal of Holistic Nursing And Midwifery, 2022
Menopause is an essential part of human life that affects women's Quality of Life (QoL). Objective: This study investigated the QoL and some relevant factors in menopausal women. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 45-60 years old menopausal women in 3 areas of Kashan city, Iran in 2018. By cluster sampling method, 236 participants were included in the study. The study questionnaires consist of demographic and obstetric information and Menopausal QoL (MENQoL). The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, t test, the Pearson and Spearman correlation tests, as well as linear regression analysis, were used for data analysis. Results: The Mean±SD age of the women was 52.65±3.67 years. Also, their Mean±SD for elapsed years since menopause was 2.89±1.53, and the Mean±SD for QOL was 31.24±11.47. There were no significant correlations between QOL and women's age, menopausal age, and elapsed years since menopause. Based on linear regression analysis, the variables of age (B=2.61, 95%CI; 0.46-4.77, P=0.02), menopausal age (B=-2.19, 95%CI;-4.39-0.01, P=0.049), and satisfaction of spouse ((B=-4.90, 95%CI;-8.45-0.35, P=0.007) remained in the model as relegated variables to QoL score (R 2 =11.8%). Conclusion: Since most women had moderate menopausal QOL score, intervention programs to improve the QOL for postmenopausal women is recommended in health centers. Further studies are suggested to evaluate the QoL in chronic diseases of postmenopausal women.

Journal of Biology Agriculture and Healthcare, 2014
Background: The transition through menopause is a life event that can profoundly affect quality of life. More than 80% of women report physical and psychological symptoms that commonly accompany menopause, with varying degrees of severity and life disruption. Studies find that most women experience at least one or more of these symptoms as they transition through the postmenopausal stage of life. The aim of this study was to assess the menopause related symptoms and their impact on the women's quality of life. Subjects and methods: A descriptive design was carried out in Obstetrics and Gynecological department at maternity and children hospital in Makkah Al Mukkarrmah.. Convenient sample composed of 90 women at range of from 40-60years were recruited in the study. Interviewing sheet that was designed by the investigators and Menopause Specific Quality of Life Questionnaire (MENQOL) were used to collect the data. Results: The present study showed that the most severe symptoms in vasomotor, psychosocial, physical and sexual domains were, hot flushes (29%), experiencing poor memory (48.3%), being dissatisfied with their personal life (44.8%), Low backache (41.9%), and change in your sexual desire (36.8%). The overall scores of menopausal quality of life for each MENQOL domain are indicated that the highest mean score in sexual domain (3.19± 1.99), following by psychosocial (2.94± 1.45) then vasomotor (2.55± 1.53) and finally physical symptoms (2.28± .749). Conclusion: The present study concluded that most severe symptoms in vasomotor, psychosocial, physical and sexual domains were, hot flushes, experiencing poor memory, being dissatisfied with their personal life, low backache, and change in your sexual desire. The mean scores of physical and vasomotor domain were significantly more in postmenopausal (PM) group then menopausal transition MT group. While the mean scores of each domain suggest that menopausal symptoms were associated with decrease in women quality of life. The current study recommended that: Health care providers need to play a more visible and instrumental role in continuously assessing menopausal women's needs as well as implement appropriate health educational programs. Also further research addressing women's health needs is also essential for improving the quality of life of menopausal women in Saudi Arabia

Introduction: Menopausal period has an important role in the reproductive life of a woman and gives rise to many physical and mental problems. So, the present study was conducted to compare the Menopause Rating Scale (MRS) in Middle Aged Women of Amritsar, Punjab, India. Methods: The present study was conducted on a total of 802 middle aged women and was selected purposively as samples from Civil Hospital, Amritsar and Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar, Punjab, India. On the basis of their menstruation regularities, these women were divided into two categories viz., pre-menopausal women (n=403) and post-menopausal women (n=399). The Menopause Rating score (MRS) questionnaire was used to measure the health related quality of life both in pre-and post-menopausal women. The questionnaire was completed during face-to-face interviews. Results: Results of the present study showed that post-menopausal women had higher percentage (%) of Menopause Rating Score (MRS) viz., mild (12.53%), moderate (32.83%), severe (50.12%) and very severe symptoms (4.51%) as compared to their pre-menopausal counterparts (27.79%, 69.47%, 2.48% and 0.02% respectively). Statistically significant association (p<0.001) was found between menopause rating score and middle aged women of Amritsar. Conclusion: The distribution of severity of menopausal symptom was different in both the groups. Post-menopausal women showed higher percentage in severity of symptoms as compared to their pre-menopausal counterparts.
Quality of Life - Biopsychosocial Perspectives, 2020
Since the middle of twentieth century, the concept of Quality of Life (QoL) has been a point of interest for many investigators and clinicians for different health and physiological issues. Menopause has not been an exemption of this, due to the increase of the life expectation, the importance of Women's Health and the view of this period of life as important as the reproductive one. Many of us work, trying to offer these women with treatments, health solutions, and psychological tools to embrace and enjoy this new chapter in her life. In this chapter, we present a review of the QoL studies on this period and the new trends on treatments and help for these women on health problems, their mental and sexual well-being.
Quality of life and its determinants in postmenopausal women: a population-based study
Applied Nursing Research, 2016
This study aimed to assess quality of life (QOL) and its determinants in Iranian postmenopausal women. Methods: This population-based cross-sectional survey was conducted using cluster sampling design. The samples consisted of postmenopausal women aged 40-60 years with total household in Rasht city (north Iran) as the sample frame. Quality of life was assessed by Menopause-Specific QOL (MENQOL) Questionnaire. Mean domain scores and factors related to the higher score of each domain were determined. Results: Findings showed that the mean scores for each domain were: vasomotor: 2.14 ± 1.49; psycho-social: 1.56 ± 0.85; physical: 1.91 ± 0.52 and sexual: 1.37 ± 1.05. Comparing the median of the studied domains, physical domain had the worst score in menopausal women. Pain in joint and muscle, one item of physical domain, had the highest score. The univariate analysis demonstrated that women aged 60-65 (p b 0.0001), women with postmenopausal stage 5 or more years (p b 0.0001), married women (p b 0.05), women holding higher education degree (p b 0.05), employed women (p b 0.05), women with a body mass index (BMI) b18.5 kg/m 2 (p b 0.05) and women who do physical activity (p b 0.05) showed better QOL. Based on Logistic Regression model, the predictive factors of normal QOL in menopause status were: age, husband education, score of Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) and BMI. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that menopause-related symptoms had negative impact on QOL. Confirmation by further research is needed.

Regarding the influence of social markers (age, marital status, school years, work, number of children and sexual activity), housewives were found to have higher, worse, scores than working women in all test components (vasomotor, 3.
