Digital devices and applications have been used in schools and teacher education institutes across the globe for teaching learning. INTRODUCTION Conceptualization of the Problem Digital literacy is the engine of the modern civilization and the driving force of the information age. Today the meaning of literacy is not just limited to the ability to read and write. It extends to an effective application of all those activities in which literacy is normally assumed. The study found that (i) majority of trainees can change screen brightness and contrast, minimize, maximize and move window screen, use search command to locate a file and download and install applications, (ii) more than 50% of trainees do not know learning management system, virtual worlds, podcasts and web design applications, (iii) around 70% of trainees are aware about storage of video in camera, manage junk mail and update username and password and less than 50% of trainees knew about voice typing and cyber security, (iv) majority of trainees use group email and whatsapp for academic work and only 20% of trainees use digital devices for using PPT in class, create digital learning materials, provide feedback to students. It is suggested that teacher education institutes must be equipped with digital devices and applications useful for teaching learning and professional development. Further, teacher educator must encourage and motivate trainees by integrated ICT in regular course work and across the subjects so that trainees can develop skills of using it for teaching, learning and assessment in schools.
The Digital Literacy in Teachers of the Schools of Rajouri (J&K)-India: Teachers Perspective

The present age is the age of information. The globalization has affected every sphere of the life including education. In spite of availability of ICT infrastructure in schools, their potential is underutilized because of digital incompetence of the teachers. New digital technologies are acting as a catalyst towards improvement of learning outcome and enhancing quality of education, but only introduction of such technologies in schools for producing change and innovation is not enough, it requires digitally competent teachers to facilitate the use of ICT in education. These teachers will act as facilitators and mentors to students to lead them towards problem solving and innovation to meet the new challenges of globalization. Teachers must be able to create learning environments which are student centric and foster creativity, Meta cognition, meta-literacy, collaboration and communication in learners. Mere superficial use of ICT in teaching will not yield the required learning outcome, but the integration of ICT in pedagogy is important to enhance teaching, learning process. This can be done only when teachers are competent enough to use ICT tools and facilitate ICT integrated education. In this paper, we tried to assess the teacher's perspective about the ICT and investigate the factors responsible for resistance of teachers in using ICT in schools and suggestive measures for successful integration of ICT in the teaching process by the teachers of Rajouri district (J&K, India). The ICT skills are very important for teachers to support alternative modes of teaching, learning, i.e. e-learning, mobile learning in the present outbreak of pandemic disease caused by Coronavirus-COVID19.
Digital Literacy of Higher Education Teachers of Tamil Nadu

This paper is based on an investigation into the Digital Literacyof Higher Education Teachers of Tamil Nadu. The investigation was carried out as a descriptive and quantitative research, involving a normative survey. The key variable under study was the'Digital Literacy ' of the sample. The sample consisted of 456 Higher Education Teachers of Tamil Nadu. The tool used for the survey was aDigital Literacy Assessment Scale (DiLAS), developed and validated by the investigators. The data collected through the administration of the tool were subjected to suitable statistical analyses. The findings and conclusion of the study present a status report of the Digital Literacy of Higher Education Teachers. The conclusion and recommendations would be of immense value to educational technologists and trainers of higher education teachers and educational administrators for evolving policies and implementation strategies for the same for enhancing the Digital Literacy of Higher Education Teachers, especially in the context of post-covid environment in which the Higher Education system of the country depends on online learning, web tools and mobile apps, which demand higher levels of Digital Literacy on the part of the teachers.

Total Digital Literacy Initiatives in Kerala: A Study of the Educational Digital Awareness Mission

The study on Total Digital Literacy Initiatives investigates the educational and digital awareness mission that tries to narrow down digital divide through multiplying towards digital literacy among several demographic categories covering Thaliparambu Assembly Constituency in Kannur district, Kerala.The mission initiatives on providing democratic access to digital assets, enabling e-government services and increasing awareness for innovative technologies amongst the general public and those belonging from underprivileged social groups. Data collected from the official site (https://edam.kite.kerala.gov.in/) and were analyzed to examine how far this program reached, effectiveness of it and impact on digital skill based answering mode through quantitative approach (Web-based). Key successes of total digital literacy initiatives in Kerala have seen a high success rate so far where more than 50,000 learners have been enrolled across 2,618 training batches. This has lead to community engagement (supported by 2009 volunteers) and promotion of digital literacy in Panchayats too. Andoor panchayath had the most learner participation, while Kolacherry panchayath recorded the least number of registrations but that also provided us with valuable areas for targeted outreach. The data reveals that e-dam is an effective approach to foster digital skills, yet future activities are needed particularly in underserved areas for bridging the gap of digital divide. This structured approach by e-dam not only enables citizens to make their choices in technology but also supports and encourages them on adopting the same for their usage, including all necessary services at e-governance level. It has become a lesson for other areas consequent to the expansion of UAC in different parts like the Kozhikode district how digital literacy initiatives provide keys towards inclusive development of Kerala.
Secondary School Teachers’ Level of Knowledge and Use of ICT in Classroom

Current study intended to identify teachers’ level of knowledge and ICT use into pedagogy at secondary level. It was a mixed method study. Quantitative data were collected from 100 teachers of secondary schools Rawalpindi. Descriptive statistics was applied and results were found out through percentage, mean, frequency and standard deviation. Interviews were also conducted with the secondary school teachers. Quantitative data revealed that teachers use only those ICT tools in which they have adequate level of knowledge. Qualitative data also backed these results and highlighted that teachers’ lack knowledge in ICT tools therefore they don't utilize them. They demand administrative support and need-based training in the development of ICT skills and knowledge. It is recommended that ICT integration in the field of education needs greater consideration than it is receiving. This article comprises the process of education and its multi-dimensional benefits. It reflects that education is not only a panacea for all evils but also it is the key to solve divergent problems and inspire to reach on wonderful destination. In this context, teachers habitually play a great role not only to teach the students in classrooms but also inspire them to reach on their desirable goal. This article consists of the profile of teachers who participated in training programme and achieved knowledge in different areas of ICT. Most of the teachers of the sample schools were undergone ICT related basic level of training programmes with having duration of three months. Status of teachers in the context of ICT knowledge particularly in word processing, database management, spread sheet software, audio-video editing software, website creation, blog, Wikipedia, social networking, Google groups and e-mail, online video chat, online text chat, video conferencing, streaming media, PDF files archiving, etc and its uses in teaching-learning are also found to include in this article.
Efforts are made in every country for a sound system of education which can cater the educational needs of all citizens. When the problem of quantity of education is being tackled, there is an urge for raising the quality of life, which is possible only if there is raise in the quality of education. The quality of life and the quality of education go together. Educationalists are of the opinion that the educational problems relating to the quality and quantity could be tackled by the development of an Educational Technology. Therefore, in recent years all over the world there has been a rapid development of Communication Technology in education at all levels with a purpose of extending educational facilities and upgrading instructional methodology. The present study tries to trace out the ICT awareness, use and need of the teacher educators of B.Ed. Colleges of Hyderabad Karnataka region. The result reveal that computer trained teacher educators were more aware and used more ICT resources for classroom teaching, professional development and personal development in comparison to the computer untrained teacher educators and teacher educators having personal computer were using ICT resources more for their classroom practice, professional development and personal development than that of teacher educators not possessing personal computer.

This study aims to gather data that best describe the factors of developing digital literacy for competency and innovation of digital skills and technology. The elementary grades pupils are the beneficiary of this research proposal with respect to teachers who uses this digital tools, which was selected through the criterion sampling methods consists from survey questionnaire and on interview by the researcher to the teachers. Digital literacy main tasks is to familiarize terminology, meaning, and even strategies in teaching not only for academic but for curricular also.Teacher and learners interaction is not only through board and chalk, that is why expertise in using technology is needed. In achieving this approaches and application should be measured. It will need some steps or factors that can be used to be more complex in this changing world. This study affixed the assumption that the teacher respondents will answer the questionnaires truthfully which all the data gathered be valid and reliable to conduct the study. It shows the relationship of one variables to another variables which are the development of digital literacy to teaching and learning methodology and techniques. The researcher conducted survey questionnaire to answer certain questions in the teacher respondent of Libod, Tinawagan, Don Tomas Garchitorena Elementary School of Tigaon District. Since digital literacy is important in teaching, researcher choose this research as to enlighten teachers to be more innovative in delivering information inside the class, to further study how digital literacy should be develop, improve, and innovate in relation to teaching and learning process in elementary grades of Tigaon district.
