Herein, we show the preparation and the characterization of new metal complexes by using a Schiff base ligand 2-[5-(Pyridin-2-ylmethylene)-amino] 1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl-phenol (L) with the metals Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II). This Schiff base ligand was synthesized via condensing [2pyridine carboxaldehyde] with [2-amino-5-phenyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol] in an alcoholic solution. For preparing complexes, two tetradentate Schiff bases ligand were employed with two metal ions of Co 2+ , Ni 2+ , Cu 2+ and Zn 2+ as dinuclear formula M 2 L 2. The synthesized ligand and its metal complexes were well characterized using FTIR, UV-Vis absorption, elemental analysis, thermal analysis, 1 H-NMR, and mass spectroscopy. Based on these characterizations, the chemical structures of the ligand and the metal complexes were confirmed. Furthermore, the electronic and magnetic properties of the prepared metal complexes were clearly understood.

A new heterocyclic hydrazone Schiff base ligand, N'-(4-(diethylamino)-2-hydroxy benzylidene)-4-oxopiperidine-1-carbohydrazide, (H2L) was derived by a condensation reaction of 4-oxopiperidine-1-carbohydrazide with 4-(diethylamino)-2-hydroxybenz-aldehyde. The ligand reacts with chloride salts of chromium(III), manganese(II), iron(III), cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) to form metal complexes of [Cr(L)(Cl)(H2O)2], [Mn(HL)(Cl)(H2O)2], [Fe(L)(Cl)(H2O)2], [Co(HL)(Cl)(H2O)2], [Ni(HL)(Cl)(H2O)2], [Cu(HL)(Cl) (H2O)2], [Zn(L)(H2O)], respectively. The structure of the hydrazone ligand was confirmed by elemental analysis and spectroscopic techniques, viz., FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and LC-MS spectroscopy. The newly synthesized ligand behaves as a tridentate ONO donor towards Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn metal ions. The spectral, magnetic moment, and thermal data indicate the octahedral geometry for all metal complexes except for Zn, which has tetrahedral geometry with 1:1 sto...

The Schiff base was condensed [2-pyridine carbxaldehyde] with [2-amino-5-(phenyl-1,3,4oxadiazole] in alcoholic medium. Two tetradentate Schiff bases ligand were used for complexation upon two metal ions of Co 2+, Ni 2+, Cu 2+ and Zn 2+ as dineucler formula M2L2. The synthesized compound and their metal complexes were characterized by FTIR Spectroscopy, electronic spectroscopy, Elemental analysis, magnetic susceptidbility measurements, thermal analysis , 1 H-NMR spectra, and mass spectra. The activation thermodynamic parameters such as ΔE * , ΔH * , ΔS * and ΔG * were calculated from the TGA curve using Coats-Red fern method. From the measurements, structures of the complexes were proposed.

Six pyridazine-based Schiff base ligands, H 2 L n (n = 1-5) and H 4 L, with N 4 O 2 S 2 and N 4 O 4 S 2 donor set atoms, respectively, were prepared by condensation reaction of 3,6-bis-((2-aminoethyl)thio)pyridazine with various salicyladehyde derivatives in ethanol and under solvent-free polyphosphate ester catalyzed conditions. The acid-base properties of H 2 L 2 and H 2 L 3 in DMSO/water (1:1) solution have been studied by spectrophotometric method at 25 • C. Optimized geometries of all compounds were also obtained at the B3LYP level of theory. Additionally, the 13 C chemical shielding of gas phase H 2 L 1 and H 2 L 2 were studied by the gauge independent atomic orbital (GIAO) and continuous set of gauge transformations (CSGT) methods at the level of density functional theory (DFT). The 6-311++G* basis set was utilized for all of the atoms.
