Impact of Goal Setting and Team Building Competencies on Effectiveness 1 2

This paper examined the relationship of certain specific managerial competencies of goal setting and team building with organizational effectiveness. The specific managerial competencies of goal setting and team building were taken as independent variables, leadership style as a moderating variable, and organizational effectiveness was treated as a dependent measure. The Data were collected from 307 executives belonging to banking sector from West Bengal, and analyzed using correlation, multiple regression, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) technique. The results showed that these managerial competencies had significantly predicted organizational effectiveness indicating their positive association with leadership style and organizational effectiveness. It was also found that the leadership style had significantly moderated the relationship between these competencies and organizational effectiveness. The findings have implications for management that they should closely examine their managerial competencies and leadership style to facilitate high performance among managers.

Managerial Competencies and the Mediating Role of Leadership Style for Improving Job Satisfaction

This paper makes an endeavor to examine the limit job satisfaction concomitance with certain managerial competencies. Managerial competencies like goal setting and team building are taken as independent variables, where as leadership style is mediating variable and job satisfaction as dependent measures. The data were collected from 307 executives of banking sector in West Bengal, India. The data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 15.0. The analyses of the same were carried out using correlation and multiple regressions analysis techniques. The results revealed that these managerial competencies had significantly predicted job satisfaction indicating their positive association with satisfaction. It was also found that the appropriate leadership style had significantly mediated the relationship of managerial competencies and job satisfaction. The findings tried to establish that the management should adopt transformational style of leadership to facilitate better performance, where the managers can use these competencies to enhance performance and a higher level of job satisfaction.

PERCEIVED TEAM EFFECTIVENESS AND STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT AS PREDICTORS OF ORGANISATIONAL PERFORMANCE AMONG BANK EMPLOYEES IN LAGOS, NIGERIA

Team effectiveness and strategic planning has been individually researched on organisational performance but combining the two together is rare, especially in the banking industry in Nigeria. The present study attempted to fill his gap. Using a cross-sectional survey design with team effectiveness and strategic planning as independent variables, the researchers administered questionnaire , containing team effectiveness scale, strategic planning scale and organisational performance scale, to a randomly selected participants among some banks employees in south west Nigeria, who were willing to participated and actually participated in the study. A total of 113 participants were actually used. Regression analysis revealed that team effectiveness is significantly and positively related to organizational performance. Strategic management was found to significantly predict organizational performance. Findings revealed the importance of team effectiveness and strategic management to organizational success, especially within the banking industry. It was recommended that managers and stakeholders regularly assessed teams and provide necessary support to ensure optimal performance. Findings were discussed using relevant literature and empirical findings.

Managerial Competencies and their Influence on Managerial Performance: A Literature Review

The paper aims at identifying competencies which are possessed by effective and successful managers across the world. The study endeavored to understand the relationship between managerial competencies and their performance outcomes. Approximately 50 research papers have been reviewed and various articles, books, web links etc. have also consulted. The results of extensive review of research papers, various articles, books, and web links etc. indicated that communication skills, team-working, proactiveness, vision, selfmanagement, result-orientation, strategic-orientation, ambition, persistence, decision making, risk taking and creativity, are the commonly possessed competencies by successful and effective managers and managerial performance largely depends upon the set of competencies a manager possesses. As signified by the paper it is very important for the organizations to assess the competencies of its managers in order to determine the skill gaps and have requisite performance outcomes to help the organizations in developing effective training and development programmes to enhance the operational efficiency and effectiveness. It is evident from the scanty research work in Indian context, the concept has not fully grown in India hence it offers many opportunities for the budding researchers.

Analysis of Factors Influencing the Teamwork Competences of Managers Starting their Professional Career

Purpose: The aim of this article is to investigate the relationship between the features that may affect the development of teamwork of students (future managers) who start their professional career. For the purposes of human resource management-employment and development of employees, it is important which of the social competences and to what extent strengthen the competence of teamwork. Design/Methodology/Approach: The analysis was based on research carried out over 2 years (2017-2018) on a random sample of 265 university students. The method used in the research was a survey. The actual research was preceded by pilot studies validating the research tool and the scope of research issues-including the comprehensibility and unambiguity of questions. In the study and verification of the relationship, parametric tests were used, and to demonstrate the interactions between the factors, multivariate adaptive regression with the use of spline functions (MARS). Based on the obtained results, a mathematical model of the influence of the researched factors on the teamwork competence was proposed. Findings: The research results show a strong mutual dependence of social competences-the strongest impact on teamwork competences was (in particular, team management), conflict resolution competences, organizational skills, communication with the environment and strategic thinking. The analyzes contained in the article show that the study and then the improvement of employee competences should always be considered comprehensively and look for groups of mutually reinforcing competences. Practical implications: Research results can be a practical tool used in the recruitment and improvement of the company's managerial staff. The results of the research allow the management staff to improve selected managerial competences and at the same time to increase the market competitiveness of the entire enterprise. Originality / Value: Most of the articles in competency research focus on the analysis of a selected feature and its impact on, employment opportunities or the effectiveness of tasks performed. The article supplements the subject of personnel management by filling the cognitive gap regarding the mutual dependence of social competences that affect the effectiveness of the enterprise. The proposed model describes the level of team management competences in relation to other social competences enriches the choice of methods and tools for personnel management.

Government officials regions must have the maximum capacity in managing human resources in their regions. Local governments, either individually, in groups or institutions, are trying to improve the quality and quantity of work in order to improve their performance. This study aims to determine the effect of leadership style, competence on organizational commitment. To determine the effect of leadership style, competence and commitment to performance. To find out the role of organizational commitment in mediating the influence of leadership style and competence on performance at the Office of Investment and One Stop Services (DPMPTSP) Denpasar City Bali, Indonesia. Data collection using a questionnaire. The number of samples used was 77 people using purposive sampling method. The data analysis technique used SEM-PLS. The results showed that leadership style had a positive effect on organizational commitment. Competence has a positive effect on commitment organizational, leadership style has a positive effect on employee performance, competence has a positive effect on employee performance, organizational commitment has a positive effect on employee performance, organizational commitment can mediate the influence of leadership style on employee performance, organizational commitment can mediate the influence of competence on employee performance.

Impact of Team Effectiveness on Organizational Performance: Special Reference to Apparel Manufacturing Firms in North Western Province

Many scholars emphasized that employee team effectiveness affects organizational performance. However, empirical evidence related to the team effectiveness of executive-level employees and organizational performance in the Sri Lankan apparel industry represents a significant gap in the literature. Therefore, the study was carried out to explore the impact of team effectiveness on organizational performance in the Sri Lankan apparel industry. From the critical review of literature, contextual factors, team composition factors, and team process factors were identified as the independent variable of the study. While organizational performance was identified as the dependent variable. This study was based on primary data collected from 181 executive-level employees who work for large-scale apparel companies in the North Western province. Data collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using linear regression analysis. The results of the study reveal that the team effectiveness of the executive level employees has a significant impact on organizational performance. Team process factors are deemed to be the most influential component of the team effectiveness while contextual factor is the least influential team effectiveness factor. All the independent variables were positively correlated with organizational performance. With the findings of the study, policymakers and the management of the companies are able to formulate the relevant strategies to get the maximum output from the team effectiveness of the executive level employees to increase the overall organizational performance in the Sri Lankan apparel industry.

Effective Team Building In Relation To Organizational Culture and Organizational Climate in Banking Sector: An Inter-Correlation Analysis

Organizations are undergoing sea changes over the last decades as they step into the new digital world through the roads of globalization, privatization and modernization. Rapid advances in telecommunication networks have heralded a 24x7 Culture that emphasizes only on productivity. The work Climate too is important as people are no longer wedded to the organization and are searching for better opportunities. Thus Organizational Culture and Organizational Climate represent the underlying philosophy and summary perceptions of members of any organization respectively. Organizations differ in their customs, traditions, in what is valued, their ideas, functions and how they operate. We might find it hard to make differences between organizations as we may be descriptive or evaluative in approach. Thus, there are organizational characteristics that help in understanding the organizations which exert strong influences on the organizational members, performance and overall effectiveness. Organizational Culture and Organizational Climate are important among them. The present study has been undertaken with the view to examine Effective Team building, Organizational Culture and Organizational Climate of SBI and ICICI bank and also to determine the relationship of Organizational Culture and Organizational Climate with Effective Team building. Thus the study attempts to establish the importance of Organizational Development (OD) in the Service sector.

Can leaders, teamwork, and technological capability boost Indonesian bankers' performance?

This research aims to find out the effect of technology capability, leadership support, and teamwork support on employee performance in Indonesian banking sector. The number of samples in this study was 300 bank employees. Data collection uses a questionnaire that is distributed online using Google Forms. Data measurement uses a five-point Likert scale and data processing uses Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). This study found that leadership support has no significant effect on employee performance, while technology capability and teamwork support significantly affect employee performance. Based on the research results, banking companies must focus on improving employee performance, such as increasing employee capabilities and creating a healthy environment for employees to improve and be comparable to increasing company performance in achieving goals.
