End of Project Evaluation of the four-year, EC-funded program "The Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) and the International Criminal Court (ICC) Justice Program". The programs overall objectives were (1) that justice is served for all victims of human rights violations during the Khmer Rouge regime through the informed and proper administration of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) according to international standards; and (2) that the principles of the Rome Statute are adopted into Cambodian Law so that the legal framework is strengthened to ensure that international war crimes and crimes against humanity can be prevented in Cambodia in the future. Specific objectives focus on (1) public awareness of the ECCC mandate and its limits, (2) advice, support and counseling to victims and witnesses, (3) independent, fair trials at the ECCC, (4) the adoption of an international standard criminal procedure code, and (5) public knowledge on the national judicial system and the ICC.
