How potential adopters in Malaysia perceive the relative advantage of eXtensible business reporting language (XBRL

The aim of this study is to investigate the perception on relative advantage accrued from using eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) among various job descriptions and type of organizations from a Malaysian perspective. This study also intended to show the association between perceived relative advantage and intention of future use. The data was collected using questionnaires filled by 350 potential adopters who were associated with the preparation and use of business reporting. The measurement of perception on relative advantage consisted of 21items related to users of financial reporting, preparation of financial reporting, corporations and compliance as well as auditing. This study found mixed findings on the differences of perception towards relative advantage. This study also found that every item regarding relative advantage was associated with the intention of future use. It is hoped that this study would contribute to the preparation of XBRL before embarking on its full adoption and implementation, while improving the awareness, understanding and perception of potential adopters.

Financial Reporting Preparers' Perception on Usage Expectation of Extensible Business Reporting Language in Malaysia

This study examines the perception of financial reporting preparers on a financial reporting mechanism via digital known as Extensible Business Reporting Language in Malaysia. Specifically, this study examines the financial reporting preparers‟ usage expectation of XBRL for their organisations. Using questionnaire survey on 100 Malaysian accountants as representative of financial reporting preparers of various organisations in Malaysia, this study found that most preparers perceived that XBRL could provide benefits to organisations for decision-making purpose. However, this study provides some indications that the preparers may not have sufficient knowledge and understanding on XBRL which may impair the benefits of XBRL to organisations. The findings in this study shed lights to regulators on the need to provide more awareness and knowledge to preparers before XBRL could come into full adoption.

Users’ Perspective of Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) in India

There has been a paradigm shift in financial reporting after the introduction of Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL). XBRL is a language for electronic communication of business and financial data. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs of Government of India has mandated e-filing of annual reports for certain class of companies in XBRL format from April 1, 2011. Now, more than 1 lakh companies are filing their financial statements through XBRL. The purpose of this paper is to know the users’ awareness about XBRL. The sample for the study includes 76 users. A Review Of The Study On The Impacts Of The Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL)

eXtensible business reporting language (XBRL) is an electronic tool with the acceptable global standard for the electronic financial data to communicate and to be compiled, analyzed and shared among the stakeholders. The implementation of XBRL brings some benefits and impacts to all of the users of financial reports. This study aims to identify the research trends on the impact of XBRL and issues related to it. Forty-six articles related to the impact of XBRL was extracted from the Scopus database and Google Scholar. The result from the study found that a study regarding the XBRL impact has shown slightly increase until 2014 but has not grown much since then. There are a few perspectives that have been discovered to investigates on how XBRL affected certain users of the financial reports. This study will give a general picture of the current research on the impact of XBRL, the trend, and future direction of the research related to the XBRL.

Extensible Business Reporting Language and Its Impact on Financial Reporting and Auditing

Rapid Advancement in Technology made the accounting and auditing environment more digitalized through initiating XBRL (Extensible Business Reporting Language). XBRL is the innovative mode of preparing, presenting and communicating the business and financial information so as to cater the need of various stakeholders. Present study is in empirical nature with the objective of analysing the perceived impact of adoption of XBRL on financial reporting, auditing and also on quality of financial information communicated. For this purpose data was collected from both primary and secondary sources and collected data is analysed with the help of descriptive statistics, ttest and Levene's Independent Samples test and concluded that there is a perceived impact of XBRL adoption on Financial Reporting, Auditing and Quality of Financial Information.

The Expected Effect of Using eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) on the Extent of Using Ordinary Financial Statements by External Users in Jordan

In 2000, a freely available modern global framework to exchange and communicate business information among business systems has emerged and called the eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL). The XBRL was designed to reduce differences in financial data presentation methods. The current study aimed mainly to find the feasibility of using the XBRL in Jordanian entities and the extent to which the ordinary financial statements can be replaced by the XBRL framework. A quantitative approach was used to collect and analyze data. Accordingly, 187 analyzable questionnaires were distributed and retrieved. The results showed that the majority of respondents are convinced that using the XBRL framework will provide them with relevant, reliable, comparable, timely, and required information.
