Analysis of the Political Aspects of the European Integrations Perspectives for Balkan Countries

Since 2000 perspectives of European integration for the West Balkan countries became realistic. Long period of conflicts was finally behind and through Pact for Stability in SouthEast Europe the EU tries to provide political and other assistance for affected countries. The main goal is their candidate status and prospectively EU membership. Not all of these countries had the same history of accession to the EU. Moreover, their problems and obstacles are not always the same. But some common main lines may be identified. Different to the new EU member states, for West Balkan countries the EU established a set of special conditions for their European integrations. Although accession process is mainly politically coloured, political aspects or criteria became main condition or obstacle for some or most of the west Balkan countries. Since the economic crisis jeopardizes the stability of the EU, the enthusiasm for accession of new members falls. For the time being, only one country has secured EU perspective.

“The Western Balkans Country: Perspectives and Challenges”

The Stabilization and Association Agreement contains explicit references to the "European perspective" of Western Balkans. The origin of this reference serves as a starting point for review of European policies towards the region. The events of 90’ have demonstrated how the European Union is necessarily associated with the Balkan region by an ever closer. The Stabilization and Association Agreement, constitutes itself a kind of special deal, because it promotes the fundamental values of embracing the Western Balkan countries, as the protection of human rights, democracy, rule of law and respect for minority rights. The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of the political relations between the EU and the Western Balkan countries, inside the framework of a policy of pre-accession to the European Union undertake. The author's aim in this research relates to her belief that the European Union plays an essential role in economic, cultural and social development, for the whole region. The EU represents an important factor which aims to face new regional Country challenges. The problem is analyzed through a bibliographic search, treating the issues in historical, legal, and political plan. The study method is qualitative. The covered issues are: the relations between the Western Balkans and the European Union, the Western Balkans challenge towards European integration.

The Balkans and the European Union

Epiphany

The Balkan question is both a historical and a political one. With the coming together of some European countries to form the European Union (EU); it became necessary for these countries to forge head both on the economic and the political fronts. This in essence has accentuated the gains made by these European countries but it has had its attendant ramifications. This notwithstanding, the idea of European integration on the principle of peace, common history, cultural and economic development cannot be fully realised since some sectors of Europe is neutral or isolated. The literature on the nature of such integrations especially the need for the integration of the Balkan regions should continue to be discussed and implemented. This paper however, looks at the literature from a social and political history point of view and projects the necessary turns that Europe has made and the need to come to a useful end in the discourse that leads us to observing or witnessing a united Europe whose socioeconomic , political and military complex holds its own against the odds but also for the common good of humanity.

Western Balkan Countries on the Road of European Integration: Results and Tendencies

The article analyses the negotiations between European Union and countries of the Western Balkans and attempts to identify where the major problems are likely to be. The main obstacles in the process of European integration of the countries from Balkan region are analyzed. Also, the paper focuses on the key priorities that Western Balkan countries have to accomplish in order to reach the domestic readiness for their process of European integration. An important goal of the article is to identify some important conclusions for the European roadmap of the Republic of Moldova from experience of the presented states.

Challenges and achievements of Balkan States towards European Integration

Abstract Perspective achievements of the Balkan countries on the path of European integration shows that they face significant challenges and should intensify reforms in some priority areas, particularly those related to the rule of law, economic governance and the rule of law in the economy and lately the new ideas to support public administration reform and strengthening of democratic institutions. In addition also the European Union today faces numerous challenges; the challenge of democratic economic and political control of candidate countries and on the other side the internal reform of existing EU structures themselves - but also the Euro zone crisis. In the context of this research and the analysis of European Union integration process, we will focus on the analysis of multidimensional, complex and dynamic processes in the last decade. Within this analysis we will give the answer to some of these questions: • The current stage of development in the European Union? • Challenges and internal reform of existing EU structures? • Integration of new countries into the EU structures? This study will also focus on the development stage of Kosovo, the institutional structure itself, sustainable restructuring and efficiency as a prerequisite for the operation within a common structure in the union. The Balkan Political Area: Prospects for a Renewed Integration of the European Union

The contribution briefly analyses the methods and criteria for accession of a state to the European Union and investigates the accession process of the Western Balkans states. The contribution intends to underline the strategic importance of the states of the Balkan Region for the purpose of relaunching the process of European integration.

There are different reasons for this situation. European countries look with distrust coexistence of peoples of the Balkan under the mantel of EU. The economic crisis that has involved the European Union has created difficulties in integration of the Western Balkans. As a result of economic crisis extremist spirit was added in some states of the Union. This paper presents challenges faced by Western Balkan countries towards EU integration. The hypothesis of this paper is to analyze economic crisis in European Union, diminished initiative to expand to new countries. Paper also analyzes the impact of Balkans interior conflicts of 1990s and approaches towards integration. Additionally paper examine the steps that are following Western Balkans to become EU member. Evolution of European Union engagement in the region. What are the challenges of Western Balkan countries towards EU integration? Why Enlargement of Union was not supported too from citizens of EU? What new brought economic crisis in EU? Strong economic dependence of Balkan states with European Union and national deficits has less opportunity for progress. Solving the economic crisis is seen with more priority by countries members of the EU rather than its expanding. Furthermore the paper discusses the fact that economic crisis raised the extremist spirit of some European Union member states. Countries like Netherlands and Greece have their veto for the further expansion of the Union. Used methodology is multiple case report through qualitative method. Literature is based in different books, newspapers and various articles related with this topic. First part discuss Balkan internal problem and EU. Western Balkans: a road towards European Integration

This paper investigates the developments and prospects of the EU enlargement process of Western Balkans. It summarizes the European approach towards the Balkan region and it analyses, from a geopolitical point of view, the route taken by the individual countries of Western Balkans and the whole region towards the accession to the European Union.

The Status of the European Integration Process of the Western Balkan Countries

For many years, the priority of foreign policy determined by subsequent governments of the six Western Balkan countries, i.e., Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia has been their accession to the European Union. Yet, in recent years, this process has slowed down, and so it can be assumed that in the coming years there will be no further enlargement of the EU to include any of the Western Balkan countries. The following article is aimed at analysing the present status of European integration with regard to the aforementioned states, and discusses the causes of regression in this process which can be identified on the side of the non-EU Western Balkan states and the European Union itself. Their integration is also a key issue in the context of the increasingly stronger presence of non-EU players such as China, Russia, and Turkey, all competing with the European Union for influence in this important region. The study was based on discourse analysis (including the critical discourse analysis approach) and content analysis.

Western Balkans Integration into European Union: Challenges and Consequences

This paper is intended to analyze the challenges and consequences of the integration of Western Balkans to the European Union. Specifically, in the first case, challenges of this integration path and in the second case the consequences as a result of eventual stagnation in this path. For more than a century, the Western Balkans region has been seeking its way of European transformation. The region remains in the agenda of European Union expansion, but even after two decades of promises, the integration of Western Balkan countries to EU is not certain. The integration journey is first of all closely connected to building the institutional capacities, adoption of laws, rules, norms and European behavior in the domestic policymaking. Therefore, the challenges are converted into obstacle or inability to the establishment of values, identity, institutional and social aspects in the Western Balkan countries, whereas the consequences are reflected as derivatives of failure to accomplishing the membership of the region to EU. Based on the research conducted on this issue, this study argues that such challenges as lack of rule of law, high levels of corruption and organized crime are derivatives of historical legacy and political elite efforts to capture the state or dominate certain state resources, as well as of the EU approach towards this region. This study is important particularly in this aspect and unequivocally presents the common and separate challenges of the Western Balkans towards integration into the European Union. Along with this realistic presentation, the consequences themselves appear which first of all are not only to the detriment of the Western Balkans.
