ENTREPRENEURSHIP AS A POST-MIGRATION ACTIVITY
Entrepreneurship is closely related to the labor migration. This thing is largely due to the work experience acquired abroad. Once the basic needs are satisfied and after accumulation of capital, financial, relational and human, most often, a migrant will develop a certain tendency to invest in activities that are productive, which will turned him into an entrepreneur. Migration for employment represents for a large part of Romanian migrants an integral part of a business strategy. After work experience gained in destination's country, a strong bond will be created between migrant's entrepreneurial orientation and his work experience in foreign countries, from a behavioral standpoint and also in terms of entrepreneurial intention.
Journal of International Migration and Integration
Returnee entrepreneurs are often represented in migration and development discourses as agents of development. This assumes that they acquire valuable socio-economic resources abroad which help them to create successful businesses upon return. However, we have scant knowledge of the impact of the geopolitical context on returnee entrepreneurs or their coping strategies. Latin American returnees in particular have received little attention and few studies focus on migrants with ‘South-to-South’ return trajectories. Emphasising the role of territorial conflicts and the agency of individuals, I use a feminist geopolitical perspective to address these gaps. I contribute to migration, mobility, and development studies by studying whether Colombian migrants returning from Venezuela can reintegrate as successful entrepreneurs. Further, I offer the concept of transmobilities to study the cross-border nature of strategies of reintegration. The 30 returnees studied have a trajectory of repeat...

Re-adjustment in the home country_The effects of return migration and transnationalism
Research in Social Change_RSC, 2019
This paper analyses how returned and transnational migrants can affect development and social change in the home country. It focuses on the Shkodra Region in Albania. Returnees and transnational migrants use the financial and social capital acquired during migration as mechanisms to readjust in their home country, while at the same time affecting development and social change. The paper deals with a specific returnees’ group, entrepreneur returnees, and raises some main research questions: How is the social and cultural capital gained during migration used while setting up new enterprises? In what scale does this capital determine the success of the undertaking? Acting as agents of development, these migrants have taken advantage of their migration experience, especially in the opening of new enterprises. This process has also involved the non-migrant population through the introduction of new employment possibilities and the transmission of new ideas and knowledge. Key-words: development, entrepreneur returnee, financial capital, social capital, transnationalism
