This article examines the impact of the Nobel Prize on the public image of science and scientists, arguing that the prize's influence extends beyond incentivizing scientific accomplishment to shaping public perceptions of scientific achievement. By analyzing visibility disparities among Nobel laureates, it highlights that some laureates gain significant public recognition while others remain largely unnoticed. The paper categorizes Nobel winners into three groups based on their visibility pre-and post-award, emphasizing the role of the Nobel Prize in providing a recognizable face to science and fostering public engagement.
