Botanical Metaphors in Pindar's Second Olympian
Abstract
Focussing on four passages in Pindar's Second Olympian, I show that vegetal imagery is instrumental for Pindar in weaving together the sections of the Ode. In particular, vegetal imagery appears to accompany and sustain the main articulations of Pindar's praise of Theron's ancestry.
