Good development will take place if it starts with good planning, so that it can be carried out by all development actors and meet the needs of the community. For this reason, the planning process requires the involvement of the community including youth through public consultations or the Development Planning Conference (Musrenbang). The musrenbang process basically records the aspirations and needs of the community formulated through discussion at the village / kelurahan level, because only with the participation of the recipient community, the results of the development will be in accordance with the aspirations and needs of the community itself. The study was conducted in the Huta Bayu Subdistrict of Simalungun Regency on "The Role of the Village Consultative Body (BPD) in Increasing Youth Participation in Rural Development in the Huta Bayu Raja District of Simalungun Regency". The analytical method used in this study is multiple linear regression analysis and descriptive analysis with a sample of 98 respondents from 4,458 people in the population. Sampling of respondents was based on probability sampling. From the results of the study it was found that the factors that influence Youth participation in rural development, namely education and understanding simultaneously have a significant effect. Partially education and understanding variables have a positive and significant effect on youth participation, while employment and regulation variables have a positive but not significant effect on youth participation. The role variable of the Village Consultative Body (BPD) of the Village, which includes social and economics, assesses the results of the program simultaneously and has a positive and significant effect on village development. Partially social and economic variables have a positive and significant effect on village development.
ABSTRACT The study was carried out to assess the relationship between youth participation in agriculture and youth welfare in Baitambogwe Sub County. The specific objectives included: To examine the benefits of youth participation in agriculture, to analyze the constraints to youth participation in agriculture and to identify the different levels of youth participation in agriculture in Baitambogwe Sub County Mayuge district. The study was carried out using both qualitative and quantitative methodology in data Collection. It was more of participatory and action oriented research with the local people. The study aimed at giving more qualitative picture than quantitative one in answering the study objectives. Focus Group Discussions and questionnaires were used to collect data from 50 respondents from the villages of Lukone, Nsindha, Lugolole and Mbirizi in Baitambogwe Sub-County. The findings indicated that the level of education of the people of Baitambogwe is low and yet, education is the basis of development and enhancement of agricultural modernization. Agriculture still holds a vital role in creation of employment opportunities as well as development of other sectors of the economy and ensuring food security. Youth participation in agriculture is constrained by a number of factors that has made the sector of limited attraction to engage the youth Land is the major constraint to commercial farming and a challenge to NAADS Program. The study findings revealed that people have interests in farmer groups. The major objective of group formation is resource pooling, participatory planning, needs identification and monitoring. Youth participation in agricultural projects is very low. Despite their (youths) rich rural life, farming background and experience, rural youth’s effective participation in agriculture. The study recommends intensive sensitization of people aimed at building social capital in the entire community in terms of trust unity and spirit of participation and to relate to one another in formal and informal village institutions. Motivation of service providers should be among the priority programs of the local government authorities. There is need to have livestock farming such as poultry and piggery as a means of fighting poverty. Livestock farming improves the fertility of the soil and therefore increased production

This research is motivated by the massive conditions and problems of the conversion of agricultural land that will threaten food security in the agricultural sector. The study investigated the level of youth participation in infrastructural development in Isin local government area of Kwara State, Nigeria. One hundred and five youths were randomly selected from seven rural communities, fifteen youths from each village. Data were collected with the aid of a questionnaire, which was analysed using frequency count and percentages. Chi-square analysis was used to test the hypothesis of significance between the socio-economic characteristics and the level of participation in infrastructural development. Findings revealed that 56.2% of respondents were within the age category of 21-30 years, 62.9% were male, and 60% were single, while 56.2% of the respondents had secondary school level education. Interests and Activities of Rural Youth in relation to Education: A Study of Samba District of J&K
Stress and pressure arising from the number of issues among the rural youth calls for the investigation of the subject in systematic manner regarding their interests and leisure time activities so that the suitable extension strategies can be suggested for improvement of their today and tomorrow. With this objective present study was undertaken in Vijaypur block of Samba district (J&K). The study was carried out on 80 respondents of 4 villages of Command Area Development Block, Vijaypur. The study revealed that very less percentage of rural youth were grouped to higher socio-economic status, which is against the dreamed scenario of rural development programmes. Majority of respondents were interested in Making new friends & working with friends, Knowledge & faith in Indian politician, Interested in gaining higher education, Working for respect of the Indian family culture, Helping family earning and Participating in rural religious functions. The study also highlights that majority of respondents were found interested in Listening radio & singing, and Laughing in case of individual recreational activities. As regards the Group recreational activities it was noticed that majority of youth were interested in playing games and attending plays. The suitable extension programmes utilizing the interests and activities of the youth can go a long way in empowering them and preparing for the challenges of socio personal life in specific and rural development in general.

South Labuhanbatu District has five Sub- Districts. One of them is Kotapinang Sub- district. Kotapinang Sub- district is in the capital of South Labuhanbatu District. Kotapinang Sub- district has 9 villages. The village is an extension of the regional central government to reach out and make it easier for villagers to take care of their needs. After the Village Regulation, the Village has entered the development priority. The village received more attention from the central government. Village development cannot be completed by the village government. However, Youth has an important role in developing and utilizing village potentials. The method used in this research is descriptive method with a qualitative approach. To Determine the Potential of Village Potential in Kotapinang Sub- district, South Labuhanbatu District. Examining the role of youth in Utilizing Village Potential in Kotapinang Subdistrict, South Labuhanbatu District. This research sees that there are three roles that young people play in exploiting the potential of villages in Kotapinang Sub- district, South Labuhanbatu District. First, the role of youth as a moral force in exploiting the potential of villages in Kotapinang Sub- district, where youth actively participate. Second, the role of youth as social control in exploiting the potential of villages in Kotapinang Subdistrict, where youth pour out ideas, ideas and oversee village governments in using the village budget. Third, the role of youth as agents of change in exploiting the potential of villages in Kotapinang Sub- district. Where youth form youth groups exploring their potential and exploiting it.
Impediments to Effective Youth Participation in Rural Community Development

This paper is based on a study conducted in Makhado Municipality of Vhembe District, South Africa. It sought to unearth the factors hindering youth participation in community development. In this sequentially integrated mixed methods study, respondents in phase 1 were purposively sampled. Data were collected in reflection circles established considering gender. The results of the first phase were consolidated into a questionnaire requiring responses on a 10 point Likert-type scale. In phase 2 the questionnaire was administered to the same categories of youth in reflection circles. Descriptive statistics and nonparametric tests for significant differences across gender categories and hindering factors were computed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences. No significant gender differences were raised. It was concluded that youth desire opportunities to demonstrate their community leadership abilities. The need for change in leaders' attitudes regarding the role of youth in development work is evident.

This research is an exploratory study that wants to study the role of youth in village development in Wiyono Village, Gedong Tataan District, Pesawaran Regency. The research is based on the background of the fact that Wiyono Village is a City Village that has many facilities with relatively advanced population, but is still a developing village, not a fast developing village. This is interesting to study to find out what causes it. The research population was all village youths with 32 people drawn from eight hamlets in Wiyono Village. The study was conducted with an exploratory approach using qualitative descriptive methods. The results showed that the potential of Wiyono Village youth was in the high category with a score of 4, while the level of youth participation in village development was in a moderate position with a score of 3. The main cause of the lack of optimal youth participation was the lack of communication between the village government and the youth.
Rural Youths Development Needs in the Niger Delta Area of Nigeria
The strategic roles of youths in rural development in the Niger delta area of Nigeria cannot be overstated. This is because they form the mouthpiece for the community in contemporary times. This study examines the development needs of rural youths in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria. A structured questionnaire was administered to 197 randomly selected respondents in the study area. Data analysis was through frequency, percentage and chi square. Findings of the study showed that majority of the respondents (55.3%) are between 20 and 25 years; rural youths have various development needs which include employment opportunities, educational advancement, environmental protection, community development, skill acquisition, social interaction, community services, health services, crop production, livestock production, decisions in development planning, scholarship training, leadership training, personality development, money making activities, information, computer related technologies. Results showed that education, gender, occupation. location significantly influenced perceived development needs. Also 51.8 percent of the respondents are males; 88.3 percent of the respondents are single; 59.9 percent are students; 53.8 percent located in the urban areas age, education, gender, marital status, occupation, location significantly influenced attitude of rural youths towards rural development.
